I had my 2011 tax return deposited on my husbands card. I am not actually on this card, but since we did it last year with no problem, we didn't think anything of it.

A few days after the direct deposit, Walmart proceeded to put a block on the account, they said to verify that I meant to do that. Twice we faxed the documents they asked for. Five times we were lied to saying some action would take place ( usually a phone call is promised). Nothing ever happens.

As of this writing, they have once again promised to call me within 2 business days. As it is a holiday weekend, that means no phone call until at least Wednesday. I'm sure if I even get a call ( seriously doubt it) , all they will say is that I have to keep waiting my 10 business days. What with the weekends and holiday, I may get my money on the 28th of this month ( 3 weeks after I discovered the block). I doubt it

If they had contacted us before the block was put on, we all could've have straightened it out easily. As it is now, my money is being held hostage by Wal-mart, why do they need it?  Don't they have enough of their own? Like all the 99%, I actually needed my money when I did the taxes, now I am in a world of hurt. Do I have any other recourse?

Wal mart is not holding your money hostage, the IRS is holding it hostage. It clearly states under the direct deposit information on the IRS website that you MUST deposit the funds in to your OWN account. You deposited it in to an account that did not belong to you. Its even stranger that you are depositing your tax refund on your husband's card instead of filing a joint return. The IRS is likely looking at your transaction as suspect as in your husband is running off with your money. You're going to have to contact the IRS and get this sorted out, and it will take a while. Lesson to be learned: Deposit money in your own account, not someone else's.
