Purchased over 15 gift cards valued at $375.00 and each card worth $25.00  at the Mount Dora Walmart.  Three cards thus far have been returned to me by my family & associates, as being unable to be read at the Leesburg Walmart on US HWY 441 in Leesburg. Went to the Mount Dora store and spoke to assistant manager Bima who told me I would have to bring in all the cards so they can be changed.  The problem is that many people at this time of the year get gift cards.  Use them, leave a couple of dollars left on them and don't really remember which one they had tried to utililize.  Subsequently a lot of people will just think they previously used it and toss it away when told they are non readable.  Most people don't know that you must on the back of each card scratch it off if there is a problem reading the card.  Obviously the person in Leesburg had no clue. Staff should be properly trained, unless this is the new way to rip off the public when purchasing gift cards.  The customer service people in Mount Dora did know how to check it.  Therefore they must be aware of the problem.  I wonder how many other people have not used cards and Walmart made out like a champion because the user of the card was told it wasn't working or non-readable.  What a scam.

I was told if I returned the cards to Mount Dora they would issue me new cards.  Mean while, how many of the people that I gave these gift cards to, may have thrown them out thinking they may have used them.  I wonder how many people remember who they gave what gift card to during the holidays.  How many who get them may even give the away to some one else if they need a quick gift. I guess they count on that. Many of us get them at Restaurants, Drug Store Chains, Major chains and who can remember in many cases who they actually gave the gift card to.  If I were to publish on line the numbers to try to get them back, scammers would figure out how to use those cards. So now I have at least 12 friends and associates, who received cards from me that we know aren't working.  I also have a Secret Pal.  That is now ruined for the entire year till we reveal who we are.  I can't ask them for their card back it would spoil the fun. But very upset that I purchased $375 worth of cards that are useless unless all Walmarts staff are trained how to make them work if they are not readable or Walmart comes out ahead because people will become frustrated and just figure out they used the card or the card doesn't work.   What a scam they have.  Any help would be appreciated in making sure the public is informed on how to make certain that every card they have is correctly read by trained people who are working as cashiers.
