I started an account with Walton EMC in 2009. Account was always paid in full & on time. I asked my wife who was not on the account to go up there & pay the bill for me. B/c her name was not on the account they would not let her pay or tell her any information, they made her come inside & have me call up there & add her to the account. Once she was added to the account they charged us a $300 deposit otherwise they were going to cut off the power to our home. We paid the $300 in cash plus the ridiculously high bill of $270.00.

My wife and I both work full time jobs and are very careful to turn off all lights, tv's etc and are careful to be efficent but the high prices is not the worst thing about this company. So just to add her name to the account cost us almost $600.00 and she was told if we did not pay it in full they were going to send someone over to turn the power off that day. We have a 13yr old & 2yr old  so we had to come up with the cash and fast. After we paid the deposit we ended up selling our house and moving.

I went down to the office to close the account in person & pay any remaining balances on November 7th 2012. I was told that the $300 deposit would be sent to me by check within 7-10 business days. After the 10 business days came and went I went back down there in person to ask what happened to the deposit check. I was told that the check would be cut & sent by December 7th. When that didnt happen I went back down there in person on December 10th and was rudely told  not only that they did not cut the check yet but they had no record of me coming down there and telling me it would be cut & sent 7-10 business days or telling me it would be sent by the 7th.

They had no record of me at all. Now I am told by the very rude customer service woman that they will be mailing it to me by December 14th. So to make a long story short ...Expect them to be very rude and demand money quickly from you or they will cut you off but Don't expect a quick refund on your deposit!!!!! In my case it has taken over a month and I have still have not received it!!!
