I was divorced more than 10 years ago and have watched my FOC case go down the toilet, no thanks to Judge Megan Maher Brennan and Wayne County Friend of the Court.

I left Judge Brennan's courtroom today with an extremely bad taste in my mouth. It became apparent after I had filed an objection with the FOC regarding a major increase in my child support that she wasn't going to hear anything that came from my mouth and would disregard anything I said, when she refused to hear my evidence and refused to even look at any evidence that was brought before her.

Additionally, Wayne County FOC refused to view any evidence I submitted, and disregarded that on 2 separate occasions, I was injured off duty and received little to no income during my rehabilitation after nearly severing my hand in a freak accident that occurred at home and tearing out my shoulder in a car accident. Both injuries left me unable to work and incapacitated for several months.

Instead of compassion, they increased my child support so high, that I lost my home and car, displacing myself and my other 4 children for a short period of time. Judge Brennan wasn't concerned at all that we were briefly homeless, nor did she care that 4 other minor biological children were involved.

I recently left my job with the City of Detroit after over 12 years of service due to having a heart attack and the decline of my current wife's health. My current wife was declared completely, physically disabled and now requires around the clock care. Care that my insurance nor my wife's Medicare will provide for. So...I had to leave my job so that I could be close to home.

When I presented evidence of my wife's disability, my heart attack, that my ex-wife has refused my visitation in the past, and that due to the extreme hardship of increased child support and bad support that was being imposed upon me, Judge Brennan was dismissive and told me that nothing I said was either relevant, nor was there any compassion towards my plight.

It was explained during this and other proceedings in front of her, that due to the excessive child support, I could no longer afford my home, my vehicle, and due to excessive fuel costs and lack of my ex-wife's cooperation with visitations, I could no longer afford to travel 170 miles one way to work. The excessive amount of support left my family with around $660.00 per month to make a car payment, house payment, auto insurance, gasoline, utilities and food. We lost our home and my eldest child, who is disabled, was forced to live elsewhere, my next 2 eldest children were forced live elsewhere as they were seniors in high school.

Again, Judge Brennan said too bad, so sad.

She refused to hear evidence that showed my ex-wife was an abusive person that abused my 3 eldest children, of which I had sole custody, refused to review my medical records, my current spouses medical records, police reports of her domestic violence, and the list goes on and on and on.

Before I left the her courtroom today, I told Judge Brennan that if I was such a horrible father, and did not care about my children, I would not have taken on sole custody of my 3 eldest children that I successfully raised into adults, would have fled the state to dodge my responsibilities of child support, that I would have ditched my youngest son, of which I have shared custody of, would have never kept insurance on any of my children, etc.

She did not take into any consideration of what was transpiring with my physical health and current wife's physical health. She went on to say that my 3 non-custodial sons were very sick with ADHD and that was more important than my health, my wife's health, my youngest son's well being or my 2 step children's well beings. Case dismissed...increased support order remains, too bad, so sad.

Regardless if you are in pro per, such as I was, or if you have a lawyer to represent you, you are entitled to a fair, impartial and just process when you go in front of a judge. This one obviously does not care and refuses to see any pertinent evidence that is important to any custody or support hearing. She smirked, rolled here eyes at me while I presented my case.

Is this justice served?

I have read other complaints on here as to how in some cases, she was very compassionate on one case, and the next case, blew one or both parties off, as if they were a huge bother to her.

Having had a lengthy dealing with St. Joseph County, Michigan FOC prior to this case, in reference with my 3 eldest children, in which again, I was in pro per, I successfully defended myself, was allowed to submit evidence at my hearings, and beat my first wife's lawyer, the lawyer that represented my 3 older children, and the lawyer that represented CPS. As a result of my evidence of child abuse and neglect against my first wife, I was awarded sole custody of my 3 eldest children.

When I submitted evidence to Judge Brennan of the abuse and neglect that my ex-wife from my current case, was placing upon these children, the police reports of her stalking and domestic violence that were submitted, she awarded sole custody, denied my visitations with my 3 sons from this case, increased my support and was trying to force me to pay over $2000.00 for mediation and parenting classes. I declined as we do not have that kind of cash to give, I explained to Judge Brennan. And as a result, she turned over 3 children to an abusive, neglectful parent.

Now, I am expected to cough up over $27,000.00 in support, interest and penalties to FOC. Money that neither my wife, nor I, have. But hey, I guess it's okay for some people to live in complete poverty and have to receive food stamps so that they can care for their family. At least it sure seems that Judge Brennan is certainly making a point of doing that to many families!
