My Wayne-Dalton "I-drive" garage door opener was installed in March 2009 by one of their local dealers. The system has been nothing but trouble, with the motor assembly finally self-destructing in January 2011. Previous, numerous calls to the company over the past year and a half produced no results. Now finally they sent me a new door operator (motor unit), which will cost me over $200 to have installed. Problem is, finding a company to install it. No one wants to touch it, saying it is junk Must be something to that, since Wayne-Dalton no longer produces the I-dirve and, because of so many complaints, they have moved/sold their technical support division to an outside company ("Home Run Holdings"). It has been recommended to me by several local contractors that I scrap the whole system (including their problematic torsion spring system) and install a complete conventional garage door opening system; That will cost me, a at minimum, $600- 800. It is obvious to me that the I-drive is a defective product and Wayne-Dalton should stand up and reimburse home owners for the total cost of the systen. Instead, they areapparently just hoping the problem goes away.
