Tricia Thomas is operating a business called Wedding Career Institute, Inc. out of Houston, Texas and she is not what she says she is. Several students, after paying over $900, have found out that she has ripped them off. She claims to be able to train you as a wedding consultant and then you take some exams and if you pass she will certify you. You turn in your exams but she never grades them because legally she is not allowed to operate a business or institute in the state of Texas. The Texas Attorney General, the Texas Workforce Commission and the Better Business Bureau of Houston are all investigating her. Everyday she offers classes through her website or you can attend one of her seminars in person. People have registerd from all over the world for this course and we want to make sure that nobody else gets "dooperd" by this false advertising.

Sorry Jasmin, Attorney General says she cannot operate

Nobody has ever denied the fact that the course material Tricia Thomas provided was good. The only thing bogus about it is the certification. If the Attorney General says she cannot operate then I am going to follow his lead. I took the class to get certified and I did not get what I paid for. She was not allowed to offer that class and she was not allowed to certify anybody. She could have offered it as a seminar and there would have been no problem but when you throw in the tests and the certification than it is a whole new ballgame. After speaking with Tricia and hearing her tell me she knew she should have never taken our money just proves to me that I needed to tell other people. As far as the police getting involved, they are. Sadly enough people do this all the time and there is no law against it. Tricia always said that clients are more likely to hire a certified wedding consultant over one that was not. If you were the bride and found out that your consultant took a course through a company that was not allowed to operate, would you hire her? I think not

I had graduated from the course but had not been certified because personal conflicts but when I tried to contact the institute for a refresher course and attempt certification the website "can not be found", no one answers the phone, and no one replied to my emails. I found this rip off report so perhaps Tricia Thomas was shut down. If that were the case I thought the Houston police department might contact all the students and notify them that they are selling themselves under newly false pretenses. I am not sure what is going on although I will contest the materials covered in her courses are constructive to start an independent business. I know of a couple well known consultants in my area that are extremenly successful and who have comppleted both the course work and certification process. So the course is not bogus!
