Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I spent 7 times on my debit card over the weekend, this last weekend. Average cost was $8.39. On Tuesday at 12:01am, My insurance was drafted when i only had $6 left after the 7 purchases according to my check book balance. I forgot about the insurance ($166) and it overdrew my account $160 total.

Wells fargo placed this before all of the weekend charges so that each one would overdraw. $280 on $58 dollars of purchases.

When I called the customer care, the supervisor Roseanne said in a condescending tone, "ma'am, when you make the purchases we just expect that you want us to pay them so if you didn't want us to pay them, you shouldn't have bought them." Needless to say, its like the air company on My Best Friend's Girl with Dane Cook shouting "NO REFUNDS."

I then went into my local Wells Fargo on Andrews Hwy in Midland, and the manager said, "no bank error, no refund." Well, I asked why that one draft was pushed before the others even though they were 2-5 days earlier, and the Customer Rep. said, "They push the most expensive ones first, because they assume those are the more important bills, i.e. mortgage, car payment." When I mentioned the other CR saying they pay everything, they didn't have an explanation.

There's a difference in "Bank error" and "Bank error in policy." Maybe its "Customer error" for being stupid enough to do business with them.

I will move my checking account, auto loan, credit card, and savings because of this.

Stop spending money you do not have and you will never have an overdraft! This is YOUR fault not the bank's fault - YOU spent money you did not have

Good luck moving to a new bank because unless you learn to manage your finances it will happen again -

AND here comes Karl and his "google this", a poem for you or bank haters - Grow up This is YOUR money take responsibility for it

How couled you let your balance go as low as 6.00???

If I read this right, you had only 75.00 in your bank account, before you made all those debit card transactions????  This left you with only 6.00 in your account???  The 166.00 insurance payment through you into overdraft by 160.00

So they resequenced your transactions to pay the highest to lowest first, so this caused you to overdraw on  7 transactions.  I thought you would have been glad, because at least the insurance payment was made.  If not, then you would have received a cancellation notice, then your auto company would have received a cancellation notice, and they would have slapped single interest insurance on your autos.

But in conclusion, You are now moving your credit card, auto loan, checking, and savings accounts to somewhere else??????

He He He, no big loss to this bank, considering you only had 75.00 in the account to begin with.  I"lll bet your savings account only has 20.00 in it.  I am not worried about you paying off your auto loan, or your credit card, because my bet is you live from paycheck to paycheck.

Maybe it would be cheaper for your bank to lose your business.  You are a drain on society dude!!!!  Maybe you should not have dropped out of High School

If you move your account to another bank it would be no different.   Banks will process your transactions from the Highest to Lowest.  They also don't post transactions on weekends, so the 7 you did over the weekend would all post at the end of the banking day that the merchants submit the final debit, which in this case was the same day your Insurance payment came out.

The issue is that you forgot about an insurance payment.  The bank didn't forget, the insurance company didn't forget..you did.  By the way even if you did not forget about it and didn't spend the other 7 transaction you still would have over drafted your account.

I would highly suggest that if you think you may "forget" about automatic debits again and keep low balances that you immediately cancel ALL of the automatic debits you have set up.  This way you can submit them on your own schedule.  I would also suggest that for the small purchases you go back to using cash.  This way if you do overdraft at least it would be for the single withdraw and not the 7 transactions.

Oh, and I am sure you will have someone post here how the bank's are changing their policies.  Where you can opt-out of this overdraft protection.  This is true, but in your case it would not have helped.  Because you were not overdrawn when you made your debit card transactions, and it does not cover ACH(Automatic Debits).  The only thing it would do is to stop the use of your debit card once you are overdrawn.  You will also hear how this is only the first step in the dismantling of the "evil" banks, and that you did nothing wrong.

Well just keep in mind that it is YOUR money, and YOUR responsibility to manage it.  This includes keeping a register and making sure that you do not spend more money than you have available in your account.  It also includes making sure that you are aware of all the debits you have set up and when they are coming out, to make sure you have enough to cover them.
