Allowed my card to be charged when no funds available. Charged me 33 dollars for every time funds tried to clear. for a 6 dollar charge, i got fined 33$. It makes no serious sense. This is idiotic. And someone should at least try to stop these thieves. From 0$ in my bank account, I went to a -141$. Does this make sense to anybody out there in this real world. Some people have real issues to deal with: Like trying to get better after a knee surgery, and not being able to go to the bank to put money in it.

My wife accidentally tried to buy something, not knowing there are no funds. And i get stung. This is legal stealing and Wellsfargo and every disgusting bank out there knows this too. I'm disgusted with the leadership of these institutions. You all should be proud of the tactics you invented. I guess the saying "The man with the money makes rules" is so true. unbelievably disgusting.

Payback Time?

Had all those scumbag CEO's of credit card companies in front of congress trying to explain all their fees. How a late fee, could cause an over the limit fee, that caused a guy's account to jump to a much higher interest rate. The guy's limit was $200 and he ended up paying thousands in fees. The CEO actually had the balls to apologize to the customer. Congress told them that if they didn't clean up their act, they'll clean it up for them. We'll see. It's time they put these bank CEO's on the hot seat and let them explain their actions. Flip over the rocks and watch all the roaches scramble for cover. Last but not least, don't spend money you don't have.

Jay, No one is complaining about overdraft fees with the argument that they should be eliminated completely. It is understood what they are for and why. Hezron explained perfectly what the whole complaint is about and I'm sure you understand. It's not sad at all to hear the same complaint over and over. Were you just as impatient and frustrated with those who SUPPOSEDLY complained OVER AND OVER about mortgage checks getting returned, forcing the banks to listen to them and thus change their policies? Why can't those on the other side of the argument do the same thing? Remember the ROR's motto "Don't let them get away with it. Make sure they make the Rip-off report!" That's why everyone should ignore your impatience and continue to file these complaints for every single instance. Congress is not as impatient as you about these complaints. Why do you think they're doing their own investigating?

It is an unfair policy.

What the banks do when your account is low on funds is they will post the largest transactions first and the smaller ones afterwards. This is regardless of how you made the purchases.. It results in the consumer paying more overdraft charges when if properly done he could only pay one fee. Those who suggest the use of a checkbook should realize a register cannot tell you how the bank will place your last two transactions and how the order will affect your balance. Situations occur when it is reasonable to overdraw your account. I do this when I am out of gas away from home, When I have no money for foodstuff or during an emergency that cannot be covered by the available funds.. But why should the bank manipulate your order of purchases so you end up paying 5 overdrafts instead of just one? I do not have a problem with paying O/D fees but I do have a problem being made to pay multiple fees even for transactions I did when the account had money in it.

It is really sad to hear the same complaint over and over. Do people really expect large banks today to NOT charge a fee on people who continue to use money that is not yet available in their accounts? Be completely honest, if Wells Fargo did not charge an overdraft fee, and would just decline every purchase that was more than what was available, would you be happy? Most likely not. You would be on this website complaining about how mean the world is, and how unfair life is. When push comes to shove the only way to resolve this problem is to read the information provided to you when you open an account or ask a banker to explain how your account will work, including fee's. Another great way to avoid fee's is to keep sufficient funds in your account. I know it sounds like a hard thing to do, but really its not! I am not perfect either. I have most definatly had my fair share of overdraft fee's on my Wells Fargo account, but I understand that it was my mistake for not paying close enough attention to my account. I am also happy that they only charged me a fee, and spared me the humiliation of declining my card for all my transactions. The world is not perfect, and if people did not overspend on their accounts, this would not be a problem. The truth is, you need to move on. Pay attention to what your doing, and look at all your paperwork. (and might I add in re: to deposits being held in your account) If you look at the receipts you get when making a deposit in your account, it will tell you when the funds will be available. Depending on your account status and the amounts you put in, it could vary. Dont spend the money if you dont have the money available yet. Life is much easier if you just pay attention.

I don;t want to hear another idiotic comment about explaining me how Wellsfargo is stealing my money. Please save it for yourself. The bottom line is...They are legal thieves, and by darn if you become a legal thief in America, you're set for life...at least this one on earth, but there will come one day....one day. Until then, keep on ripping me off, please take my money, cuz that's all the happier I'll be in afterlife. But please Mr. Wellsfargo, can you please not steal my food money please, I have to eat...... Guess What....I'm about to close my account with them so you can kiss this consumer goodbye.

They did they same things to me holding your money in a pending status then charging you when you use your debit card because according to them your over your limit yet the charges go through. Its a scam I started banking with (((competitor's name redacted))) they give you YOUR money back and if you are by any chance over drawn its one 21.00 dollar fee. Wells Fargo you suck bottom line. sorry, allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company your comments on this policy are welcome! If you search this site you will find that this subject has been beaten to death. Two things... Read your agreements and the addendums that they may have sent over the years. Explanations of all of these fees are in there, they have to be by law. I know it's boring reading and all, but these people are handling your money, it might be a good idea to know how they are going to do it. It is not the bank's responsibility to keep track of your spending, it's yours. If you can't figure out how the holds work or can't keep enough cash in your account to allow for them, then stop using cards and go on cash.
