Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I had been having some financial problems due to health issues and a job change which had allowed us to get behind on a few things so a company ASC offered the service of a post dated check which my husband accepted. I had to later call them and tell them we needed to push the post date back a week- I was told they could not do that I needed to call my bank and complete a stop payment, then I would be able to set up another check for the following week -no problem

I completed the conference call with Wells Fargo and was assured the check would not process through as long as we had the dollar amount and check number the check date was not an issue. I asked once again are you sure this will stop the payment at that point I was once again re- assure no problem the check will not process. I was also advised there was no overdraft protection on the account. So in being assure the check would not process and I would be charged a stop payment fee of 29.00 I continued with setting up a 2nd postdated check to ASC. Doesn't everything seem to be going wonderful at this point!

I checked my account on line this weekend and find the check we issued for a stop payment was processed through the bank, so now I am not only out of 29.00 fee I am assuming they will charge me for overdraft protection on the account which I was told I did not have- I will most likely incur fees for the 5 checks that I did write after the stop payment was completed....AND lets not forget the 2nd check that was set up for ASC in the same amount for a week later.

Now I find it interesting that ASC and Wells Fargo are partner/parent companies how this could have turned in such a mess.

The 2nd thing is my advice to consumers is never agree to a post dated check under any terms- from this point on when the money is in the bank that is when they will get a check. (note: after the 1st check was set up there was a week of work missed due to lupus and that was the reason I had requested it be pushed back a week)

I will have to speak to the bank and ASC Tues. to find out what if anything can be done in regards to the OD fees and the 2nd check. Of course at this point I will have a hard time trusting in what I am told -and this is ALL I needed to happen right now since due to the temporary financial strain we are experiencing.

I will post back after speaking to the bank on Tues. I know that some of this mess is of my own making unintentionally however to assure someone that a stop payment will be done in no uncertain terms I hope they step up to the plate on this issue I have only been a Wells Fargo customer for about 6 months Tues. will determine how much longer I will continue.

Well the mess is final straitened out-I was not read ANY statement as a matter of fact I was told by the person that it WOULD NOT be processed and I needn't worry about it. However all is well that ends well (I think) the bank was very helpful and there were other checks that I had written that they allowed to process 5 in all for the sum of 200.00 ( which I wrote assuming that the check would be stopped) they reversed the fees on the 5 checks and I had only to pay the initial OD fee of 33.00 plus 5.00 per day til the account was in the positive. I was in the bank this past Monday and at the time they could not tell me if the 2nd check I had written to replace the 1st. had been stopped or if it was sent in as NSF more drama.....the check was to be for the same amount but the paper work received from ASC showed a $5.00 discrepancy so I many have that to deal with yet...all in all I am very happy with the bank and what they did do for me because even though it was one mishap then another the beginning cause fo this mess UN-INTENTIONALLY started right here. Let's say I have learned a good lesson as well. no more post dates...you never know what tommorrow will bring!

Stop Payment

I am sorry to hear about your troubles, but when you called and placed the stop payment the agent would have read a disclosure to you which would have stated please note we do not guarantee the stop payment of the item, we will attempt to stop payment of the item as long as all the information you have provided is accurate and complete. It is not the banks error that the item posted, I would recommend you speak to the bank and find out why it still went through before asking for any fees to be reimbursed.
