Wellspring NYC Best Lodging Solutions Short term apartment rental scam in New York City New York, New York
On May 9, 2011, I made a deposit on a short term apartment rental in New York through http://www.wsnyc.com/. Check-in date was 5/26/2011 and check-out date 5/28/2011. The full amount for the three nights, including deposit, was $762.91. When I arrived in New York on 5/26/2011, I checked in the apartment and paid the remaining balance in cash. The person checked me in and left the apartment. Shortly after the person left, the building's superintendent saw me and said that I was in the building illegally. He said the person who had rented me the apartment was not allowed to do so, and that the superintendent was going to call the police to remove me from the premises. He also said that the same company was running a sting operations in the building and other customers who had rented apartments on a short term basis from that company had been scammed. I became very concerned and left the apartment. I contacted the company that rented me the apartment several times and they've not responded to my emails and phone calls. I've asked for a full refund given but they have not acknowledged my requests.
