Gail sadler Arnp runs an office out in north tampa where she treats patient on a regular basis with out the supervision of a doctor and then she bills numerous insurance companies for these office visits because she illegally gets group contracts with these doctors. When I know that a doctor is never or has never been in the practice to supervise her and check on the patients and in the state of florida doctors can have other offices but they still have to check on the arnp and patients how do you bill medicare for these office visits when they never ever have seen a doctor and to me not only is it very unsafe it is illegal......she is not a doctor

As a patient from 2001-2008,  I was never once introduced to Gail as "Dr"  even though she has a professional doctoriate and for the many many years of professional educaton, she may legally be addressed so.  She has always been referred to as "Gail" by every patient I ever encountered, or referred to her office.  I never heard any one call her Dr. or Mrs, or Miss Sadler.  Just Gail.  I have copies of the majority of my records from her office.  They are very maticulate with exactly what was being discused during my visits.  Out of all doctors I have seen, (and I have seen many)  Only 2 other doctors even came close to keeping records as detailed as hers.

I agree with the person who commented about keeping track of your medical records.  I have found many many errors from doctors not listening, or half listening, or even not understanding my answer.  example  I was asked what my profession was at a doctors office.  I told them I was a Division Order Analyst.   When I received a copy of their record, it stated I was a computer operator.  The two job titles are completely unrealted.  Doctors make mistakes, ARNP's make mistakes.  To ere is human.

So if you have proof that there was malfeasance perpetrated against an individual and billing associated with their records or insurance.  Rather than complain.  Discuss it with Gail, File a complaint with the associated Dr., or better yet with the insurance company.  If there is actually a written report verifying the acqusataion, then publish it.

If it were not for the knowledge of this medical professional, I would be a quadriplegic.  I can happily say I am not.  At least not yet.

if I read the first complaint correctly, it was entirely based upon the fact a doctor was not on the premises acting as an actual supervisor. And the writer of the complaint feels Gail has no right to bill insurance for the office visits because of this. As Flroida statute has stated, she may run her business as she is, and has been doing for many years with no other complaints from patients.

If the Brandon person had an issue with this, why even have made an apt. to begin with?  Try to stick with the issue of the original complaint.  It had nothing to do with miskept medical records.  THis is NOT a doctors office.  It is a FAMILY PRACTICE OFFICE.  Maybe a misconception on the Brandon patients part that a doctor should be there.

satisfied patient.

I do not know the the issues that caused the person in Brandon to blow up about West Coast Family Practice.  I suggest that anyone review rules, procedures, and laws, before posting a rip off report about a very legitimate company.  I am a former patient. I would still be a patient if I still lived in Florida.   I hold a degree as a Paralegal and feel I can comment with knowledge, not just emotion.  It may actually be the Doctor you have an issue with, and not the ARNP. And I know for a fact that Gail Sadler was associated with a doctor .(regardless of the fact she could not be licensed without one)  I know, because I was on several medications that could not be written without a legal DEA number.  Only available through a doctor.   And you can verify ths with any pharmacistl

Florida Statutes: Section 458.348 states the following concerning onsite supervision of a NP:

(4) SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS IN MEDICAL OFFICE SETTINGS.A physician who supervises an advanced registered nurse practitioner or physician assistant at a medical office other than the physician’s primary practice location, where the advanced registered nurse practitioner or physician assistant is not under the onsite supervision of a supervising physician, must comply with the standards set forth in this subsection. For the purpose of this subsection, a physician’s “primary practice location” means the address reflected on the physician’s profile published pursuant to s.456.041.

458.347(4)(e)6., a physician supervising a physician assistant pursuant to this paragraph may not be required to review and cosign charts or medical records prepared by such physician assistant.  (this includes an advanced registered nurse practitioner as stated earlier in the notated statue)

......3. All such offices that are not the physician’s primary place of practice must be within 25 miles of the physician’s primary place of practice or in a county that is contiguous to the county of the physician’s primary place of practice. However, the distance between any of the offices may not exceed 75 miles.

There are more technical and specific instructions as to what a DOCTOR can or can not do in relationship to supervising an office owned/ran by either a PA or an ARNP.  Read them at state.fl.us/statutes

As a former patient I can testify that West Coast Family Practice, billed patients at a very discounted amount.  If you had no insurance,  an office visit would run a paitent between $25 - $60 depending on your financial dificulties.  There are very few medical offices that will do that for a patient.  And I never had one issue with my insurance being billed incorrectly or over billed.  And my insurance was MEDICARE by the time I left Florida in June of 2008.  prior to having medicare I paid cash for my office visits with ail Sadler, BSN, RNC, CCM, CRNI, ARNP, PHD Co-owner and Associate Director. Adjunct Assistant Professor, University of Phoenix, Tampa,

Thank you for the oppportunity of this rebuttal.

The original post raises significant concerns. Unfortunately, rebuttals listed above choose to latch on to an incorrect fact or a personal experience and negate everything the concern states. I'll be as brief as possible:

1. Yes, many parties get billed for the same encounter. Whose service are they paying for? Insurance companies do not make contracts with nurse practitioners; they make contracts with doctors. She must be billing in the doctor's name if she is getting reimbursed

2. She is not a doctor- at least not a medical doctor. It is utter deception for anyone to call her their doctor because she has a Ph. D. If she introduces herself as "Dr. Sadler" to a patient in a medical setting, that is fraud and should be taken before the Florida Medical Board immediately.

3. For all of you who think a nurse practitioner is the same thing as a medical doctor, ask yourself: why didn't she go to medical school, and residency, and why isn't she required to stay board certified in Family Medicine?

4. if you see Nurse Sadler as a patient, and you never see a doctor, I urge you to get a full copy of your chart and take it to a medical doctor to have it reviewed.

5. Each patient is responsible for knowing the qualifications of the professional caring for them. Do your research. Find out what the differences are between the requirements to become a nurse practitioner, and the requirements to become, get certified, and renew and maintain certification as a medical doctor.

First I would like to comment on illegal insurance billing. Anyone with half a brain knows that if you have coverage from several companies, ALL of them will be billed. You have primary, secondary, third, etc etc. Each will pay its portion according to your plan. It's impossible to bill companies that don't insure an individual. They wouldn't pay. Ok now that the obvious stuff is out of the way..... I am a long term patient (8 years) of Dr. Sadler. Yes I said doctor. She may be an ARNP but she also holds her doctorate in nursing and teaches at the local university 2 days a week. She has more initials after her name then I can remember so please forgive me for not listing them all. My husband and I both saw Gail as patients and our file was reviewed on a regular basis by the physician she is in business with. It is perfectly legal for a ARNP to have her own family practice. Do you really think that a doctor would just allow someone to use his name and his DEA # without review of her business and patients records? Common sense would tell you no. He would not risk losing his license to practice medicine. I believe this posting to be a hoax by a disgruntled ex employee and bears no truth and should be removed under the hoax provision. Or the person should be made to produce documentation to substantiate her claims. This is wrong to sully an incredible woman's reputation, because someone got fired from their job.

The real truth is that I am a former patient of west coast family practice and I was seen there about 5 times and when I would ask the ladies in the front office when the doctor came in they informed me that this was an office ran by arnps and that they have a protocol doctor but he is at another office I started to look at my insurance statements and realized that I was being billed by a doctor not an arnp and when I contacted my insurance company they informed me that the arnp was not contracted thru them and then I started talking to different patients and heard some of there stories and realized that maybe everything at this office is not legit so now I have a great M.D. to care for me and like is good I just wanted to let the public here my story....GOD BLESS EVERYONE EVEN MS.SADLER I WILL PRAY FOR HER.

I am a current employee with Westcoast Family Practice and felt the need to get a few things straight. The only truth to the above complaint is that Gail Sadler is indeed a nurse practioner and the practice name is Westcoast Family Practice. The rest is all lies cooked up by an unhappy ex-employee! In the state of Florida a nurse practioner can practice medicine in their own practice as long as they have a PROTOCOL doctor. This doesn't mean the actual MD must be present during all exams. In fact the MD doesn't have to see the patients. What is required of the MD is monitoring of the ARNP. Gail Sadler(as well as another nurse practioner that works out of this office) have regular meetings with the Protocol MD as well as another MD that is partnered in the business. Both ARNP's also consult with the MD on a case/patient by case/patient need. Gail does not masquerade as an MD. She states very clearly (spoken and written word) that she is an ARNP. In fact, the whole front office has been trained to inform new patients that Westcoast is a nurse practioner run practice and they will be seeing a nurse practioner. As far as Medicare goes, in the state of Florida an ARNP can bill to Medicare. Insurances, especially Medicare, have a very lenghthy and well researched credientialing process. To which, Gail Sadler ARNP has qualified! Both of the ARNP's at Westcoast have been working in the medical field for over 20 years. A large part of the practice is built from repeat and obviously satisfied patients. A number of patients have followed both ARNP's throughout their careers. In otherwords, Westcoast Family Practice is staffed by well educated and fully certified medical providers whom are well respected in their field!
