Well here is another story for the notorious WEST. I just got fired last night. I work for the west call center in Pensacola and handled incoming trouble shooting and billing for Comcast cable a client of Wests'. I had great stat's, great quality assurance reviews at 100% on everyone and good attendance with no write up's (pins).

I took a cleared and excused leave of absence from March 19th to April 9th to go back to Ohio where i'm from and take care of my handicap mother while my father was away. While I was gone they had me down for 2 no call no show's, told my Fiance I was fired and deactivated my badge etc. When I returned they made me bring a doctors note from my mothers doctor stating she was disabled and required help!? Even though in training they tell you doctors notes are not accepted at west at all.

My first day back one of the floor supervisors asked me to come to her office before I even got to my desk trying to write me up for the no call no show's. I advised her that it was an error on Human resorces and I wasn't signing a write up. She looked it up on the computer and with anger in her eyes said ok it was a mistake you can return to work.....Oops couldn't fire me then so she was upset.

When my team lead came to work he wrote me up on a step 2 (pin) for labor efficiency being to low when I wasn't even there for that time. He also wrote me up on a step 1 (pin) for wearing a t-shirt the next day because I thought it was Saturday and it was Friday. So with in 2 days they tried writing me up once and did give me 2. Looks to me that they were trying to fire me because it only takes 3 to get fired and I was one shy with in a 2 day period.

In closing I was on a break and the another male floor supervisor told me he needed to talk to me in his office and I told him I was on break and was smoking first. He advised me I could finish my cigarette outsite company property. I asked if he was letting me go and he said he needed to walk me out of the building. So I was fired in a nut shell.

This company has been sued and lost several times for mistreating employee's and unlawfully firing people. They have lost thousands of dollars in lawsuites and I am wondering when it is going to stop??? Now i'm unemployed in a strange state I just move to in jeapordy of loosing my home and everything I have. I will be contacting there clients letting them know how west operates.

Comcast would not be happy knowing that WEST tries to get customers off the phone to get another call because thats how they get paid per call. Comcast wants there customers taken care of not pushed off the phone. They also handle Cingular wireless and Timewarner cable who is owned by Comcast. They were handling American Express but they pulled there contract due to West not handling things properly! Someone help stop this wreckless behavior!

Fired from West Telemarketing with No Excuse

#2UPDATE Employee

Fri, July 27, 2007

I was fired also from West Telemarketing. I have been with them since Dec. 2005. I am part of the Work at Home Agents. I have done many certifications with them including H & R Block, HSN and Office Depot. The worse part of it all was working a Certification called DR. Customers call in and you have to Upsell. They monitor/listen to all your calls, and while in conversation with a customer, they'll flag you on the screen if you do not follow the script word for word or don't offer all upsells...EVEN IF the customer is adement about not wanting the extra product. I finally got out of doing that. Things were going ok... at least I thought. About a week ago I go to log in and I can't. It gives a number to call. I did, and they said that they can't give me any info. ? I asked for another number to call, and they advise me they did not have one. ? So, I did a google to look up West Telemarketing on the internet and to find a phone number myself for Human Resouces. I was transfered to 5 different Departments. On the 5th transfer I finally find out that I have to call the West Corporate office if I want to speak to someone in the Work At Home Department. FINALLY, I get through, but only to a recording. I left a message. No return call. I called again the next day. Left a message. Nothing. Again, the next day, no response. Then in my email... a letter stating: *****Pursuant to Paragraph 3 of the Independent Contractor Agreement (the "Agreement") between you and West Telemarketing Corporation ("West"), West is hereby terminating the Agreement effective immediately (the "Termination"). The Termination shall have the following effect: ***** In their Contract, in paragraph 3 it says, A contractor can quit/terminate without reason, and West can terminate without reason. What kind of company that is worthy of anything conduct business like that? Especially to an employee who has been with them since 2005.? And without reason? Is it because I was putting in a lot of hours, and my pay was beginning to increase by over $500 a month than I was making? I was loyal, never complained, learned my products, kept my schedule, etc.. This is just a warning to all. If you get hired, make sure you know who is your direct contact and what the phone number is. Understand that you only get paid by the minute. And if you add up all your hours and figure out what you are making, you still do not get that amount. They find ways around that. I never did complain to them about that either. I probably would have been fired sooner! Stumped in Washington

Its the American Way

I am actually an employee at the Spokane Holley Mason Facility for West Corp in Spokane, Wa. I have been working on the Cingular CSR line for over 2yrs now and realistically the JOB is a great job. However I do agree the COMPANY is less than desirable to work for. Lets face it tho, tis the American dream to get as MUCH as possible for as LITTLE as possible. Based on that, ignore the facts of West not offering any decent benefits and the benifits has de-escallated since they have went private. The company is working totally within Legal Requirements of the US Gov't as far as what they NEED to offer the employee's. Ignore the facts that when I started with West min wage was $7.35 and I was hired at $9h (not HORRID)and now min wage is $7.93h and Im only making $9.30 meaning that min wage went up about 0.58c and to show how much West appreciates my dedication I get .15c wage increase a year bringing up my current wage to $9.30h,thus meaning that min wage went up .58c and employees actually lost 0.28h tht had been working for 2yr+. Its not that West that makes the rules.. its the gov't .. if you dont like it then vote to change it. I wont even go into how if the Gov't says anything about tightening border patrol or immigration laws ppl strike via the millions but if something happens at work then Americans as a majority just tuck their tail and go with it, afraid of losing their job. Americans as a whole are lazy and scared, the corporations are not only aware of this but take FULL advantage of it and I don't blame them one bit. Humans are after all merly animals justifying their actions in the name of God or whats better as a whole for the community.
