On 11/04/09 I financed a vehicle and provided a large down payment with a 12 month note through Westlake Financial Services. My first payment was due on 12/04/09. I went to my bank and obtained a cassier's check for the full monthly amount on 11/30/09 and mailed it the same day using Priority Mail through the US Postal Service. On 12/11/09 I was contacted by Elizabeth with Westlake Financial and she advocated that they have NOT received my 1st payment. This was on a Friday evening and my bank had already closed for the weekend. I advised her that I would contact my bank on Monday morning to see if the cassier's check had been cashed and if not I would send another payment out. This was not acceptable with her. She advocated that she needed me to make a payment over the phone or through Western Union, or she would have a late payment reported to the credit burro. I became angry and hung the phone up. I called back and explained the situation with Ted who told me to fax him a copy of the cashiers check and the receipt from the postal service. I found a print shop open late so I did as he requested. Now in my possession I also retain the fax receipt and confirmation report. He said that the check was probably in the accounting office and not to worry about it anymore. One week later on 12/18/09 I received another phone call from Elizabeth engendering mendacious allegations that the payment was not received and that she was going 2 have my truck reposessed if she didn't receive the payment through Western Union by 12/21/09. Given the nature of my large down payment there was profound amount of equity in this truck and Westlake Financial stood to profit from this repo. I went ahead and sent another payment as per demanded through Western Union which cost me additional expense and I was charged a late fee. On 12/30/09 I went to my bank to stop payment on the cassier's check that was allegedly lost in the mail, only to discover that Westlake Financial had cashed it on 12/24/09. I tried many times to resolve this issue professionally however their colletion office would not allow me to speak to a manager. I ended up having to go to my banks president who issued the cassier check and have him contact Westlake to sort this mess out. The person he spoke with was put on a speaker phone and she was engendering many specious statements involving the nature of what transpired. Today, I'm trying to trade this truck in on a new one, just so I can have something financed through a different respectfull lender.
