I bought movie tickets at Fandango.com back in February. I am a student and have not paid close attention to my bills, but it turns out that Fandango sold my credit card information to "WFI Reservation Rewards" who began charging me $7 per billing cycle WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION.

I called "Fandango" and they claim that I filled out a survey after buying my tickets (total crap!) and clicked a button stating I authorized them to give my credit information to a 3rd party for some alleged rewards program.

Even if it were true, if this alleged survey did exist, they did it in such a way that made the consumer think that they were authorizing Fandango to bill them for the tickets just purchased. And they certainly did not make it clear that you were authorizing repetitive billing. This is deceptive, fraudulant and a material misrepresentation of the truth!

I want more than my money back for the $7/month for the last four months that I've been billed. I want a class action...punitive awards to send a message to scammers and the big companies that support them!!!

If this has happened to you, post a message and maybe we can get a lawyer to take on our case.

It's good that you caught them giving your credit card number away. I'm curious about that survey. Maybe you can have them mail you a photocopy of the survey form/print-out, if it was online, or whatever. See if they can show you a photocopy of all answers given by you. Go ahead and put them on the spot if you can, and have the time. Your a student, so I know you're busy. In addition, for future reference, some will not give you that lame excuse. For some online shopping sites, you have to add a checkmark, when you don't want something. If this is something you don't want, and you're not asking for the given service, in the first place, why bother? Would you even notice? It's tricky. There are still others who do not require your permission. They will give your credit card number away, no matter what. What covers their corruption is their anal little "Privacy Policy", at the bottom of the Home Page. It's in the "Fine Print". I know it may seem tedious, but you have to read those privacy policies, in this day and age. I hope this does not distract too much from your studies. I also pray that you have CHANGED your credit card number for peace of mind. If you're with a half way decent credit card company, your "Dispute Department" should handle it well. Not sure what term your card uses, but the department for refunds, or "Stopped Payments". Take care and study hard. Don't let these con artists get to you.
