Whirlpool Extended Warranty Federal Warranty Service Corp. Impossible to cancel; evasive tactics to avoid policy cancellations; cancellation request mail lost; no fax/phone to cancel Nationwide
Called the Whirlpool customer service to see whether my malfunctioning dishwasher qualifies for warranty service and or to find out a local service contractor to repair it, but isntead was sold an extended warranty under the selling point that it can be potentially cancelled if so desired at any time with full or partial refund...
i called the repairman and he said that warranty does not cover the repairs necessary, so I paid him out of pocket,a nd then called in to cancel next day. After several telephonic attempts to cancel and circular transfers from one department to the other, I was advised to mail a free form letter to a specific PO Box, which I did 2-3 days later. It was around November 23rd, 2015. Today (on January 15th, 2016) I have called again just to find out that no such request has been received, and that there is no fax number or any electronic means to cancel teh warranty. I was advise to mail teh letter again. I have been though a lot of rigamarol just to find teh right department--and...it has NO name... The reps keep changing the names of teh cancellation department, and no one is sure how to cancel and who to call.... So i was kept being transferred from one representative to another...
Finally I have decided to file thsi report to warn potential customers that once their credit card is charged for an extended warranty service provided by Whirlpool Extended Warranty/Federal Warranty Service Corp., there is practically no way of cancelling the policy--even if one has never used it, i.e. no claims ever were field or are planned to be filed. So, buyer beware!
