Whiteface Lodge Hotel Dishonest staff, fraudulent representations by managers and poor facilities. Ripoff Lake Placid New York
We reserved a room in october 2006 based on the whiteface website description that the hotel includes a private beachfront facility on Lake Placid, called the Canoe Club. We were also given a daily activities itinerary which included "private beach front property on lake placid offers swimming boating beach games... etc" [I kept a copy].
However, when we got to the hotel we were informed that the beach front facility was closed as well as most of the clubhouse and all activities discontinued. the skating rink was closed as well. had I known that the beach and more than half the hotel amenities/facilities were closed off, we would'nt have reserved in this hotel.
During our stay, there was incomplete work and dangerous renovation in the hotel such as no legal handrails on stairs. Hotel security is poor and security staff is incompetent.
We were treated very rudely by the hotel staff who entered our room without permission and handled our belongings without permission. Then they lied about trying to find us and about waiting for an hour to locate us before going into the room. I took notes and after the trip, when i called the manager to complain about the staff, they didn't return my call.
