The final estimates are now in. The Carmicheals left us with $35,000 in actual damages. Plus, lost rent. They are now living in Portland, Texas.

Thank you for your response! I did contact the Navy in Lakehurst and fortunately reached someone who knew Bill and was "all for screwing him" (in her own words!). I was informed that he retired in June. She put me in touch with the Master Chief and the Warrant Officer. I forwarded the pictures and the police report. They also had a complaint from the military moving company because their belongings smelled so bad, so my complaint collaborated that. Bill is not returning their phone calls either. We have been in regular contact and they gave me specific instructions on how to proceed through the criminal process and we have filed a complaint through the District Court. In addition, I am working with the insurance company and they will be going after them also. I was able to get their forwarding address through the post office so it is just a matter of time now. His pension check will be garnished for the rest of his life. Hopefully this will warn their future landlords in Ingleside, Texas. I can't believe people can live in their own filth! Not to mention completey destroy someone else's property. I am very thankful the Navy has been so cooperative. With everything else going on right now, I appreciate them taking the time to address this. Thanks again!

The military has very strict provision about what their people do to the place that they live, even off base housing. Find out who his commanding officer was where you live and bring pictures, estemants, the whole works. Because if you sue him you can't garnish his military wages without their express approval. He might even get into trouble with them. The military frowns upon conduct unbecoming an officer. That means even when he is in his "home". For example if a military person gets into a fight off base he may be arrested by the local police but that's a cake walk compaired to what he/she is facing when the get back to base. I was a landlord, only for about a year. I had two different tenants do significant damage to small apartments. I sued them but they are both too poor to garnish any wages, yet when they are getting back $6,000+ in a tax return and they owe me twice that in judgments, I can't garnish that. They get back twice what the paid in in taxes and I know that I'm not the only landlord that they own money to, and we can't collect from that. Now what kind of crap is that? They know that too that's why the damage stuff and leave. I bet that "Bill" wasn't counting on you contacting his commanding officer about what he did to your house when he damaged it, was he? I hope I helped.
