I WAS TOLD THAT I WAS APPROVED FOR $5000 LOAN, BUT SINCE I DID NOT HAVE GOOD CREDIT I WOULD NEED TO PUT DOWN A COLLATERAL. WHICH WAS $910 DOLLARS. I NEEDED TO WESTERN UNON THE MONEY AT A WALMART SINCE THEY ARE AFFILIATED WITH THEM AND THE COST WOULD BE ON 414.16. ONCE I DO THEIS AND CALL THEM BACK TO CONFIRM THAT THE MONEY WAS RECIEVED BY HATTIE MALONE THE $5014.10 WOULD BE DEPOSITED THE NEXT DAY INTO MY ACCOUNT. THE NEXT DAY I RECIEVED A CALL FROM PETER STATING THAT THE DEAL WAS AT A STAND STILL THE BANK NEEDED MORE COLLATERAL TO MAIE THE DEAL WORK AND TO SEND ADDITIONAL $900. I SAID NO AND TO GIVE BACK MY MONEY HE STATED I SHOULD RECIEVED A CREDIT TO MY ACCOUNT AROUND THE 12/29/08 FOR THE FULL AMOUNT. I STILL TRY CALLING THE NUMBER BUT I SEEMS THAT THEY HAVE BLOCKED MY NUMBER OR CHANGED THEIRS.

But you fell for a very common scam known as the "Advanced Loan Fee Scam". You NEVER send money in advance for a loan, regardless of the reason they give you. If you have not figured it out yet, you were never going to see the money from the loan. Even worse for you is that the money you sent them is gone, you can wait until 12/29/2058 and you still won't get it back. Oh and yes they did change their number and are now trying to scam other people under another fake company name.

http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/telemarketing/tel16.shtm Federal Trade Commission Website has info on this scam. No legitimate lender makes you pay up front for a loan they way these people do. There are fees associated with loans - but those are minor fees. Not several months payments up front. Because the whole point is to steal your money - never to give you a loan They target people with bad credit and limited incomes -basically the people who can least afford the loss of money - because they know they will almost always jump at the chance to get any loan without doing the research to find out if they are being scammed or not. You can't research the company because 1. The name changes constantly - so you cannot find complaints against the latest names. 2. They also steal the names of legitimate businesses - this is to appear legitimate - but the phone numbers are usually in Canada and the addresses rarely exist. The lottery/sweepstakes scams and Mystery Shopping scams work the same way - Target is low income -bad credit - people who see free money and do exactly what the scammers want. they send fake checks for several thousand dollars and tell you to send most of it back - by the time the check bounces - you now owe the bank the money and if you are not careful YOU CAN BE ARRESTED FOR PASSING BAD CHECKS!
