I have also been bombarded by the Bizzaward mails and calls, therefore I also investigated. My findings are similar to AnonymousAwardWinner.
There are negative reports and blogs about the Bizzawards in the web, but the most explicit I found was this one from Botswana, it really describes the operation they have very well.

You posted anonymously, therefore I dont know what company to reference, but it is a possibility that we had outdated information. Once you submit the application forms your company information is re-verified. Some companies are rejected at this stage. You will find that participating companies have excellent reputations.
You could have saved some time by reading our website, instead of researching IP addresses, and found information on our association with Calidad de Impacto, a company that was hired for a lot of our operations, including customer service and IT. We are very public with this association and you are invited to any one of our three offices if that satisfies the question of our location.
When it comes to our products and services, you are under the impression that we sell the awards. Every company that has earned this recognition is entitled to contact our office and ask for the award at no charge and it should have been offered to you. We sell memberships to our business association (which among other benefits includes dozens of business networking and training events yearly) and we sell seats and dinners at our award productions. Over 2,000 companies have chosen to participate and pay for these things and they always receive what they pay for. Additionally, we have a "no questions asked" refund policy.
Although there is no industry standard for our selection process, we are correcting flaws as it being externally reviewed for a quality certification.
We are aware that we dont inspire confidence at all times and have even received inquiries by AmCham that led to favorable physical inspections by Duaine Priestley, US Export Assistance Center Director with the US Department of Commerce.
It is a shame that you post this on a Ripoff site, harming our reputation, when our products or services are simply not right for you. Please consider removing your post. Other representatives could have answered your questions openly if our employee did not speak English to your satisfaction. We wouldnt still be around if we had ripped off the 2,000 companies that have signed up over the past five years.
