Complaint Review: World of Pets - Internet

I purchased a female miniature schnauzer from WOP on Saturday 22, 2010. I have two other male schnauzers and I always wanted a girl. I happened to walk past this pet store just to look, however I had no intentions of buying a new dog at this time; until Gary the owner showed me the cutest all black with white patches; little 11 week old puppy. The puppy was brought out from the basement and on top of that, she had a cold (which I heard was common for puppies).

He told me that I needed TO BUY (x,y,z) items from the store and practically made me buy over $100 dollars worth of stuff. I kept putting stuff back, getting smaller sizes, and less expensive brands of the same items to save some money. This guy clearly only cares about MONEY..

The dog at the time did not have any papers when I asked Gary the storeowner he said he would have to contact the breeder. I was advised that I need to take the dog in to the Vet right away within (3-days) is what they suggested. I was told to go to there VET (Animal Clinic of Bay ridge and see Doctor: A. Alexandru), which I did and they were clearly conspiring with each other. I brought her in the next day because I was concerned with her cold and wanted to make sure she was ok. I took a stool sample in to be tested; the doctor said she is a perfectly healthy puppy (nothing to worry about).

Well the next two days the dog was urinating every 10 minutes all through out the day and drinking and eating excessively, once again I was concerned. I called Doctor Alexandru right away to verify if this is normal again, he said for me not to worry. I decided to take her to my regular vet, where I take my other two dogs to confirm that she is ok. It TURNED out she has high PH balance in her urine as well as two different types of parasites, which the other doctor neglected to tell me there was anything wrong. Therefore, this dog went 4 days with out being treated and could have diet and one of the parasites can harm be transferred to humans as well as my other dogs.

A few days later the dog started to wheezing, coughing and hacking. She was neither eating nor drinking and was trembling. I took her to my vet right away to find out she had a temperature and fluid in her lungs after an x-ray was taken. She was diagnosed with pneumonia, which was most likely never treated from the pet store. She needed to get an IV hooked up to her to give her fluids and a shot to bring her fever down along with antibiotics.

After all my suspicions, I decided to look into this pet shop and the breeder as to where my dog supposedly came from to find out that my dog is from a puppy mill and the people that these people used to run a kennel business which closed. I cannot even locate these people any more, to even put another complaint in about them, or to put a stop to this.

After reading all the comments and seeing all the research on line, this absolutely broke my heart. I want to spread the word to everyone to never buy a dog from a pet shop again. Try to find a reputable breeder and do lots of research before you buy anything (ask many questions, see paperwork, check the parents of the puppys health records at the vet, and see the living quarters an so forth). Unfortunately, I did my research too late. Therefore, I hope that I nurse my little one back to health and can spread the word to people out there to NOT do business with World of Pets EVER.

All the negative reviews out there are 100% true, I tried calling Gary a few days after my purchase to explain to a 3^rdparty not him since he would not come to the phone to speak with me, although I can hear everything he is saying; I tried telling him that one of the products he sold me was missing an item, he refused to replace my product and got very nasty with me.  I then began to tell him that there were other serious issues with the dog and how sick the dog was and if he wants to be this way I have 14 days to return the dog and pursue other matters via the contract you provided as well as "Lemon Laws" as a consumer, he told me to pursue other matters and hung up on me.

End of story this is a moneymaking puppy mill business, they do not care about their animals at ALL, they just care about making money.
