World Wide Auto Salt Lake City BEWARE FRAUD junk cars for sale on ebay salt lake city Utah
On May 17th I made an offer to post number 200925307417 on ebay. The seller sent me a reply declining my offer but asked me to call him so we could discuss options. (avoid ebay).
I called him and I discussed options to purchase a car based on what I saw in posting. I told him if the car was drivable and if I can use the car for work then I wanted to buy it. He promised me that everything was correctly represented in the listing and if I paid him $1000 deposit I could hold and come pick-up the car the next day. He requested cash for the remainder of the payment. (It is my first time I spoke with any seller on eBay that did not accept pay pal.) I paid him $1000 with my debit card and the next day I drove 1600 miles from San Diego, California to Salt Lake City, Utah with a tow car plus another driver to pick up the car.
When I arrived at World Wide Auto they showed me a piece of metal not even similar to what was published in the listing. It is not necessary to mention that this car could not be drivable. I told them right away that the car was not what was promised or what was in the listing. I asked them to cancel the transaction and refund me my deposit.
In the next days I came to understand that I was dealing with criminals that are working out of Los Angeles and Salt Lake City under different company names. The main names are Wrecked Cars for Sale and World Wide Auto. Another internet search revealed that there are many other victims all over the United States that have been scammed.
World Wide Auto now has on eBay 117 cars listed for sale. With the little search that I did, I was able to see that 70 percent of them are described as “damaged salvage”. All of them are the same as my car which is “junk salvage’.
In research that i did on eBay i chose randomly 20 listings from the 120 that World Wide Auto has and 17 from the 20 were junk cars that they are offering as repairable for sale.
They are not intending to sell these cars because it is a smoking gun to sell junk cars. All that they are doing is taking deposits from unsuspecting customers and when the deal falls through they simply relist the car and start again. They went so far as to allow me to drive from San Diego to Salt Lake City with a tow car knowing full well i would not buy it or be able to take it from their lot.

These guys are thiefs. Just google them, Farid Santiago Guanuna, Gary Guanuna, Angelica Guanuna and the father who is Edgar Guanuna. They've all been in jail for crimes and they are low lifes, classless, unhonest people who think that just because they have money (which they earned from stealing and lying to people)they think they can get away with doing this stuff to people. They need to have their business shut down.

I pulled up the ebay ad for that vehicle from the post number in the complaint and it clearly shows that vehicle is a wreck and it looks like a paint bomb exploded inside of it aside from all the front and rear body damage. The company also cleary states they sell wrecked and salvaged vehicles. They also stated in the ad that it "runs" but only so it can be driven onto a trailer or transporter.
I do not really understand how this was a ripoff unless it was not the vehicle in that ad. I can suggest it is a huge red light when any seller of ebay contacts a potential buyer to purchase a lisrted item outside of ebay where you would forfiet any type of buyer protection. Granted you only risked the down payment and what it cost to make the trip it was not a wise move and unethiical to ebay for this company to sell it that way.
The bottom line is not that you are a fool to purchase a vehicle online as much as it is foolish to buy a vehile at all if you are not sure what you are doing. As well you should not buy anything online if you are not sure what you are doing. If you know what you are doing it is pretty safe to purchase a vehicle from online..such as hold the down payment in escrow until the vehicle is inspected or to use paypal where they will hold funds for a lenght of time giving the buyer the opportunity to lodge a dispute if the vehicle or item is "not as described" in the listing.

An individual would need to be an absolute fool to even consider buying any used car, sight unseen, via the internet!
