MCi Worldcom wireless ripped off telemarkerter lies
I was ripped off by worldcom.wireless. I had received a telemarketer call in Dec. to try their new digital cellphone. I told him that I already have a contract with voice stream that won't be ending till maybe Feb. He said that I wouldn't have to activate the phone till then that way I wouldn't be billed. I asked him if I decided that I didn't want this plan can I send it back and he said that I could.(no time limit was discussed) I rec'd the phone about Dec 20. I looked over their plan & decided that I didn't want it because when I travel to Iowa it would be roaming cost. I called the company Jan.2 and waited about 1 1/4 hrs before I even got a hold of anywone. I was passed around about 3 or 4 different people. I was told by a manager that I could not return this phone without paying for $250.00 for early term. of contract. I told him I didn't know of any time limit. He told me to write to vice pres. Cust Svc Thomas Barton po box 5211 Ny, Ny 13087-5211. I called again Jan.4 to see if I could get a different person I again had to wait at least about an hour before I reached anyone than I was passed around to about 4 or 5 different people.This time I had the term & condition which they kept talking to me about. Which say if you sign the contract or use the phone you submit to the terms and conditons of the contract. I told this Manager Jonathan that I did neither so I should not have to pay for a contract that I didn't want. He said that by telling the telemarketer to send the phone that implys that I accepted the contract. He told me to write to the Vice Pres. he didn't think I would be able to get out of my contract.
I don't think I should have to pay the $250.00 for a contract that I don't want & can't use. If I had signed the contract or used the phone it may be different. They tell me that the phone is already activated. I am going to send this phone back by certified mail to the vice president.
I think the telemarkerter lied to me. I never would of told him to send the phone if I knew that I was accepting this contract without even knowing about the plan if it suited my needs. The company has bad customer service if you had a problem with your phone you wouldn't be able to talk to anyone.
