I first applied to Worldwide Acquisitions a few months ago because I saw an advertisement on CareerBuilder for an entry level marketing/sales/advertising position. Of course, like every job I applied for, I went on the website (www.wwacquisitions.com) and it looked pretty legit. I also saw that they did marketing/sales for Verizon specifically.

Last month I went to Worldwide Acquisitions for an interview. I actually arrived quite a few minutes early, and on arrival, I saw all these people going out to their cars. It was usually groups of about three or four people, all of them looked like they were just out of college/ in their early to mid-twenties. I was quite skeptical at this, and was pretty much left thinking that all this company really did was door-to-door sales.

I then went into the interview and decided that I really wanted to talk about the position to see exactly what I would be doing. I was of course interviewed by someone who was no more than three years older than me, and all three people that I saw in this tiny office seemed to be in their early to mid twenties.

As for the actual interview, the woman asked me like two questions. I specifically asked her what a typical day would be like for me if I took on this position. Instead of answering the question she completely dodged it and told me that I could find out about the position when I came back for the 2nd interview.

What it seems to me and what I've heard from other people is that they want you to sell Verizon FiOS door-to-door. So if you are a smart, college graduate that doesn't want to have to go wandering around to Boston, don't apply or interview for this position. This position, even though it may be a crappy sales, clearly has nothing to do with marketing or advertising.

Bosses lie, managers lie, people who train you lie, even- you will end up lying to yourself.

One day we had the 2 VP from CYDCOR, the holding company and bought us donuts and bagels and were acting like they we re giving us big bonuses. I was ready to shovel the bagels up their a......   They promise they are opening new branches, offices, they will make you managers, and make you rich. its all bull, even the managers buy their own bull.

What amazed me is how smart the kids working there are and they still can't figure out the game that is played there. You will basically be working for less than minimum wage. If you think Walmart is taking advantage of low class un-educated population, Worldwide Acquisition is`paying well educated students for $5 an hour, sometimes nothing. You can work 12 hours a day, spend $20 on gas, put 200 miles on your car, put a big smile on your face, and still go home with nothing or in debt. And they can still fire you without any reason because its employement at will.

I can't believe how much talent is wasted over there. Some individuals REALLY believe they will MAKE it. You will only make it only if you make Julie and Sam happy (You know what i mean :)

You are 100% right my friend! Worldwide Acquisitions is ill-equipped with the right skills to manage their employees. They are nothing like what you expect them to be. This is by far the worst company I've ever worked for... And since Verizon FiOS is raising their prices this Monday, it means that sales are going to be even tougher to make. Which leads to poor sales and unsatisfied employees. It's a performance-based job. If it's impossible or too difficult to sell the product then you're not going to make your money. Hopefully Verizon comes down on the prices. If not then Worldwide Acquisitions is going to look more like a world of devastation.

You are right on about everything you felt about the 'job' its purely to make money for the boss.  You do all the grunt work and the boss takes around 45% of the total commission VZ pays out.  Now with all that money she gets from people doing the dirty work you think there would be a base pay, nope no way; since you will commit a good part of your life to this 'job' try like 50+ hours a week, thats if you live close to work.

MY opinion is don't waste your time because unless you want to be a kiss a*s to get consistent sales your better off finding a real sales or marketing job.
