My son tried to play a new game on  his xbox live - World at War - after a couple minutes playing he realized he was in a modded lobby and quit the game.  When he returned to play a different game later in the day he received the message that he was "banned until 12/31/9999".

I have contacted xbox via phone and was told to post a message in the Forum to which I received the following response:

"This account has been issued a permanent suspension for  hosting, advertising or intentionally participating in modded prestige lobbies.  The suspension will stand as issued".

Really? I'm paying $10.00 a month for a service that has banned my son for life and when I try to contact the company I'm told that the only way to contact the "enforcement team" is to post in a forum.  And the rules of the forum clearly state that if you threaten to take legal action etc then your post will be deleted!

The purpose of the enforcement team is to ensure that players abide by a code of ethics and play Fair but it seems to me that Xbox live is the Bully!

#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

Mon, August 05, 2013

Greetings -- I *used* to provide support for 'World at War' and just wanted to provide some insight.

Regarding the ban:  it is only for Word at War.  Your son will be able to play any other games online with no issues.  Those are implemented by the development team, and are only for a specific title.  So your son could even play Black Ops or the Modern Warfare series.  Microsoft has no oversight or pull in game bans, and contacting them will not help your son get un-banned from World at War.

As for being able to contact the enforcement team -- that is not really possible.  All bans are final, and aren't discussed, even if it happens to an employee.
