I ordered a cd storage drum on 12/27/08. On 1/4/09 they sent an email saying the order had "failed" and indicating a "refund" had been made.

The refund hasn't appeared in my account yet, so I called them this got the following recorded message: "The person you are calling is unavailable -- please leave a message after the tone."

I then sent an email and have had no response.

Their online payments are "powered" by Infopia, Inc.

I wonder if I'll ever see this refund.

Well, I also called Infopia, Inc. because they were listed on the bottom of Z9 Electronics website as having "powered" their payment transactions. The woman who answered sounded concerned when I told her I feared I'd been scammed and would never see my refund. She said Infopia was a legitimate company; I questioned why Infopia would let Z9 Electronics use their name on its website. The woman at Infopia called back a short time later, to say she wanted me to know they did not process payments for Z9 Electronics - despite the wording on Z9 Electronics website and in my "refund notice" from Z9, which included the text "Authorization/Charge performed by Infopia". I sent Z9 a nasty-gram around this time, too. About 3 hours later I got an email back from Z9; they said they were not scammers, that a refund would take 2-5 business days to show on my end, and that false accusations were not needed. The refund did indeed appear on my account the following day. I'll never know if I would have gotten the refund without making a stink. They might be a legit company, but their customer service sucks. The lesson here is to do a thorough on-line search before doing business with an e-retailer. If you discover any negatives, caveat emptor! Oh yeah, and since I reported this to Mastercard, I've got to abort the refund process they've started - but I had to cancel that debit card and pay $5 to get a replacement, which will take 5 to 7 business days.
