Zach Scott was not Sheriff during some of those incident correct... BUT Continues to operate and allow torture in his jail..

 Recently ( During Zach Scotts Reign) Two high ranking Sheriff officials were involved in Farud, theft and forgery.One was double dipping and the other was falsifying Doctors Excused signing the Doctors Signatures....Both remain on the job and get their full pensions and benefits yet not prosecuted.. BUT many sit in that Torture Jail that committed the same crimes ( Fraud, Theft and Forgery) and are being prosecuted and tortured ???

 Is this not the pot calling the kettle black ???

 Also during his watch an inmate was picked up on a petty theft warrant in a nursing home dying from Diabetes. The Deputys ripped his iv's out of him and told the medical staff he would be brought right back after he was booked. A few days later the police called his brother, told him his brother was being released and would need an ambulance. A City Ambulance arrived and the man who was in a leg cast with diabetes was covered in his cell from urine and feces so bad and his leg was swollen so bad it had to be removed and he died a few days later...

 The conditions were so inhumaine the City Ambulance people filed a report and it made the news. The pics were so bad they had to black it out ???

 This is the type People who love torturing inmates and under the assumption they are above the law. Hey lets not forget the FEDS had to come in recently and sue them to stop torturing mentally ill and pregnant inmates who were being stunned with stun guns and had cuffs on???

 This is all on the internet to be verified...

 So what this past or present Sheriff employee is trying to sell you on is that Zach Scott was not in charge during some of the incidents aboe yet Continues the horror and torture that was going on by his former Boss Jim Karnes...

Yes everyone Knows Zach Scott is bad news. He recently even allowed two Deputys to commit fraud-theft- and forgery and double dipped while on the clock. Yet they remain on the job. If you google Zach Scott for Sheriff vote no- you will see the person commenting above who is trying to say this all happened on Jim Karnes watch. No it didnt. and you have to love the story the local news paper did where Zach Scott was caught parking in handicap parking spaces yet claims " he didnt see the signs" as him and his family was enjoying the fair.



3 out of 4 deputys i spoke to said they will vot Maike Herrell.

Sheriff Zach Scott fired me one day before my probationary period was up on 10/16/2012.  I am a wife and mother of three young children ages 5, 4 and an infant.  I came to work every day, even during my pregnancy, and was good at my job.  I also stayed over and came in early to help other shifts that were short staffed.  All supervisors I worked for felt I was capable of performing my duties. For the last 3 months of my probationary period I had a new Lieutent who with the help of certain female deputies, including Sara Scott, the Sheriff's daughter, wrote me up over things that simply were not true.  When I tried to argue and provide factual truth that these write ups were invalid, I was still given reprimand.  In the year and a half I worked for Franklin County I was never once given a reprimand nor pulled to the side for "issues or concerns" of supervision until this Lt. came into the picture. Sheriff Scott allowed hearsay and personal opinions to assist him in his decision to relieve me of duty.  It is concerning that Sheriff Scott is allowing the personal opinions of certain female deputies including his daughter, to play a role in his decisions.  In a facility where he is  short of staff and asking for more deputies as all shifts in all locations are short of staff, it is also suprising to me that he willing fired a minority woman for concerns that were extremely minor and for issues that simply were not true.  Who's really running things in that place, the Sheriff or his daughter? After working on a shift with Deputy Scott it is something that I and many others questioned.

Lets not forget to mention no beds, no meds and a full blown bed bug infestation. I agree that the facilities are unclean and unsanitary. I have been there. I agree that the inmates aren't treated fairly. I have been to this facility as an inmate several times and it is never a fun place to visit. But lets be completely honest. if you don't like the hotel, stop checking in. We are supposedly innocent until proven guilty but reality is that 99% of the people incarcerated are guilty. Period. I was and I haven't met the ellusive innocent inmate yet. Conditions are disgusting, yes, but the majority of the people being housed there are also disgusting. If it was a nice, clean, respectable place then the overcrowding would be worse. I learned my lesson and I haven't been back in over 8 years. That's the idea, isn't it? Get over it.

I don't know whether to laugh out loud at this complaint, or feel very, very sad for the neighbors of Robert Krutko.  This crap has been going on for 6 or 7 years now and Krutko has well documented himself as a liar, fraud, and scammer, much or which is right here on this website.  Anyone can Google Robert Krutko or even search his name on this site and see the long list of drivel he has written.  All of this stems from going $65,000 in arrears to a Key West resort and having his boat reposessed and house foreclosed on as a result.  He is delusional, a coward, and an outright liar.  He has cried wolf so many times that there is no way I can believe one word of this complaint.

The corruption inside the Sheriffs Office is getting much worse. The Sheriff had to expose two of his officers who were falsifying doctors reports and time sheet falsification.

This incident happened months ago but because a tipoff was done and a  few individuals made public information requests about the incident and it was then the Sheriff was forced to expose these men.

I have been saying now for almost two years the conditions at the Franklin County jail were dangerous.

It has now taken a man who died to get the Sheriff Zach Scott to look into this. I have also said all along Zach Scott needs to resign or will give up his position in November when elections come.

STATEMENT FROM FRANKLIN COUNTY SHERIFF CANDIDATE MIKE HERRELL ON THE RECENT FINDING OF FILTHY JAIL CONDITIONS

Former Franklin County Deputy Sheriff and candidate for Sheriff, Mike Herrell, today offered to the following statement regarding
the recent finding of filthy conditions in our county jail system:



Todays finding of the abhorred filthy conditions in our county jail is yet another example of the vacuum of leadership and management experience from the countys unelected sheriff, Zachary Scott. 

When the Democratic Party handed the Sheriffs Office over to Zachary Scott, the county jail had steadily been dealing with filth and unsanitary conditions.  Such was the case with Robert Krutko who, according to a report by WTVN 610, was one of several prisoners forced to lie in sewage, after a toilet backup and was covered from head to toe in urine and feces. Krutko also claimed he was denied medical treatment and denied a shower for days.

In September of 2011, an analysis by The Columbus Dispatch found that, between 2009 and 2011 Franklin County had to pay $1.1 million in taxpayer dollars to settle 27 lawsuits against the Sheriffs Office.  These suits ranged from excessive force against jailed prisoners to feeding a prisoner food that had been rubbed on two deputy sheriffs private parts.  At the time of the Dispatch report, Scott claimed he was "going to address these issues". 

Obviously, the issues are ongoing.

This matter holds even more gravity when you consider that Franklin Countys jails are operated by 400 full-scale sheriffs deputies with more training and higher pay that most corrections officials in other large Ohio counties. 

Accordingly, the deputies should be held to higher standards.



Sheriff Scott went from corporal to sergeant to Sheriff in 60 days.  He has no command or managerial experience.  Problems in the jail system can be expected to continue until the voters of Franklin County elect a qualified and experienced law enforcement professional to the Office of Sheriff.

I have provided facts and links to them in reponse to my disbelief at the tone and easily verified inaccuracies of your posts.  Basically all I could find online when I looked up Mike Herrell for Sheriff were your posts.  I initially wondered if you were working for him, but I wonder why he would want to associate with the raging, inaccurate posts of someone who is clearly unstable.  You have indicated in your last post that you have never met him.

You have previously indicated that you "know" what Mr Herrell would do, how he would respond to situations, indicated that you find him to be honest (now there's an endorsement I'll keep in mind)and even attributed quotes to him.  I'm unclear on how you can make those statements. 

Question #1 for you: Please let me know how you determined how Mike Herrell, a stranger to you, would respond to issues.

I do agree with your first 2 comments in your last post- any Sheriff must deal with current and past problems; must ensure that civil rights are assured for all; and must oversee his subordinates in order to minimize problems.

I agree also with you that inmates should be given hygene necessities.  I am not familiar with the process that involves call sheets and how inmates would benefit from copies.  I'm a renovator/ Realtor and have never been involved in law enforcement or been incarcerated.

You mention that there have been ongoing problems with abuse by Deputies, poor medical care, lack of hygene, etc that are currently occurring.  To be able to honestly make those statements, you'd have to either currently be an inmate, or have been an inmate in the last year.  Otherwise, I have to continue to question the validity of the statements you've made regarding your concerns.  

Question #2:  How do you have knowledge of specific events in the jail since Zach Scott became Sheriff in July 2011?  On what dates did the issues occur and to whom?  Provide verifiable documentation.

I wished to determine the source of the overflows, not place blame with my prior question about the source of sewage overflows.  I'm a third generation real estate renovator/ investor/ Realtor and have been in the business for 15 years.  Drains are designed by engineers to carry specific quantities of fluid.  There are a couple ways drains can back up.  The first is if the drain is obstructed- either by something large being lodged in it, or by tree roots getting into it and collecting enough debris to cause flow to be reduced or stopped.  These are the 2 most common causes of drain problems in my experience.  Another would be obstruction of the drain line due to a collapse of the underground drain tile.  This can happen with very old structures that used clay tiles for drain pipes.  I'd be surprised if the jails use these, since I believe the jails are relatively new.  And the final one is if the design capacity is being exceeded. 

Question #3: So, my question was if the design capacity was being exceeded or if there were clogs.  You indicate that you are very familiar with the drain issue, so what is the source of the problem?

Regarding your proposed solution of "backflow preventers" in the drains.  Backflow preventers are only used on water supply lines, not drains.  A backflow preventer is designed to prevent dirty water from working its way back into the clean water supply.  They are not used to prevent drain back-ups.  In fact, installing anything like these valves would create a blockage in a drain.

Underlining, bolding, and capitalizing words does not make them more valid than any other words.  In this case, it just brings attention to the fact that your backflow preventer idea is simply uninformed.

Question #4:  Please provide a copy of the correspondence you've had with Sheriff Scott and OSHA regarding establishing a cleaning procedure/ not having a cleaning procedure.  You have repeatedly mentioned this.  Provide evidence that this is true.

Question #5:  Why did you remove your references to Deputies abusing inmates with Tasers in your original post after I posted the link to the lawsuit which names Mike Herrell as a defendant reponsible for reviewing and approving the event reports generated after inmates were Tasered?  

Question #6: Why do you support a candidate for Sheriff who was directly responsible for, and approved of, the actions of the Deputies who repeatedly Tasered inmates?  Why do you find this to be acceptable now, when your original post (before you editted out the text) had said in your usual bolded, unlined, and capitalized letters that Sheriff Zach Scott was the worst type of human being because he was responsible for this abuse?  Wouldn't you find Mike Herrell to be the worst kind of human being now that you recognize that he was directly responsible for this policy of abuse? 

Let's talk about leadership and the necessity of a leader to be a role model for their subordinates. 

I expect a leader to be able to accomplish any task they ask of their subordinates.  The role of Law Enforcement is to protect and serve the community.  Therefore, the Sheriff of Franklin County should be physically capable of getting out of a chair and walking a few blocks.  To my point: 

I was at the Dublin Irish Festival Parade and saw both Sheriff Scott and Mike Herrell in the parade.  Sheriff Scott was athletic looking and was walking the parade route, waving, talking to people along the route and being very accessible.

Contrast that with Mike Herrell.  He is morbidly obese and was sprawled out in an overstuffed armchair being hauled down the parade route in the back of an equally huge dually pickup truck.  He barely mustered the energy to raise his hand to wave occasionally.  At no point did he make an effort to get out and walk and meet the people who he hopes to be sworn to protect.

He either did not care enough to make the effort, or his physical condition prevented him from being able to walk a couple blocks to get the votes he needs to get the most important job in his life.

The Sheriff needs to be someone who has the energy and drive to lead a large organization.  How can you support Mike Herrell if he is physically incapable of even walking?  Will people point to him and say "That's how I aspire to be."? 

All the jokes about the lack of fitness of law enforcement officers are underpinned by a simple truth: we want the people we pay to protect us to be physically capable of doing so.

Mental and physical health are connected.  Do people abuse food because they are happy and feel proud and in control of their lives?

I don't mean to be insensitive or insulting in any way by these comments.  I am simply conveying my impressions and thoughts from watching the two different people and contemplating how they might lead the Sheriff's Department.

Sheriff Karnes worked with both Mike Herrell and Zach Scott for more than a quarter century and, being an accomplished law enforcement officer himself, was capable of evaluating the psych profiles of his subordinates.  He knew how they respond to pressure, he knew who was the hard worker, and he knew who was the best leader and best representative of the Sheriff's Department and Karnes picked him.

I have looked at your blog at zachscottsucks.blogspot.com about Zach Scott and your wording is exactly the same, but you end with inviting the media to call your attorney- Maxwell Kinman- Robert Krutko's attorney.  You're the guy who is suing Franklin County about some event that may not have even occurred and are hoping to damage Sheriff Scott's reputation by your lies and slander on this and several other webpages. 

Googling Robert Krutko led me to the series of stories about you ripping people off in Florida; stories about your extradition from Ohio jails to Florida; and I've even recognized similar phrases in your attacks on people- "the pot calling the kettle black" for instance. 

You indicate in this post that Social Security has determined you have severe mental issues and I hope you get help for them. 

I'll forward this on to Sheriff Scott and he can determine how he'd like to deal with you.

To answer your questions I will do...



As Sheriff which Zach Scott is currently it is his job to clean up all problems past and present. Its also his job as Sheriff to oversee the jail and make sure the Civil Rights of inmates arent being trampled on.





The Sheriff should make many visits to the jail and not rely on superiors to run it for him. Im not talking about calling the jail and telling them hes on his way im talking about showing up unannounced and talking to staff as well as inmates. The Deputys there will tell you the past Sheriff Karnes never went there ....





As far a problems with the jail...



1- ALL Inmates by law should all be given the hygiene necessities that are required by law. This hasnt been done on many occasions for a long time.



2- Call sheets should be provided to all inmates that request them for any reason-MEDICAL-DENTAL-COMPLAINTS ETC. This is not being done. They should be in double or triplicate copys so inmates have a copy . They dont do this because Deputys can throw the one copy away and theres no proof one was ever turned in. This is still being done today.



3- THE SEWAGE PROBLEM...



You can blame inmates or whomever you want but this problem can easily be stopped. Hazmat cleaning groups have all confirmed this is a dangerous situation. First the Sheriff and maintenance people must let the County Commissioners know there is a serious problem that needs fixed. To fix the problem there must be BACK FLOW DEVICES INSTALLED IN EVERY DRAIN. This  will prevent any future backups.



Also the current Sheriffs staff ( Zach Scotts) has confirmed there in no cleaning/sanitation procedures in place to clean the messes up when they do happen. O.S.H.A has said that if the Sheriff Department calls they will come in and evaluate the situation and draw up a cleaning procedure to make sure it is properly done.



Also the inmates are required to have rec time once or twice a week I believe. This is still not being done. The Sheriff should call for an immediate investigation into this and fix it immediately.





NOW THE TAZER COMMENTS. The Sheriff who was in charge ( Karnes) was not only found in the wrong by the Ohio Legal Rights Services he was found in the wrong by the Feds. He immediately afterwords come out and said " WE DID NOTHING WRONG". MY POINT HERE IS ZACH SCOTT WAS GROOMED BY A MAN WHO COULD NOT ADMIT WRONG DOING. The situations above I have pointed out ABOVE may have started before Zach Scott being Sheriff but hes there now and this stuff is currently going on.





When I asked a Deputy the other day at the jail how many times he has seen Zach Scott walking through and inspecting the answer was NONE. The Sheriff department/county has spent millions paying out lawsuits they allowed to happen and still happen today. The lawsuits provided in original link all could have been avoided easily but this cannot be done when a Sheriff doesnt give a d**n and allows people below him to run things the way they want. The Sheriff commented recently on the radio about saving money and cutting certain foods out of meals to save the taxpayers 800k i believe it was. Thats disgusting knowing the problems he has with his staff and the jail costing taxpayers millions arent being addressed.





Now for your comment on the Sheriff not being an attorney...



I dont see anywhere on this post anyone saying the Sheriff is an attorney.... But I will say not knowing Michael Herrell and never even meeting him I would bet by many I have spoken to that know him he would not only take the current lawsuit seriously he would call for an immediate investigation into the matter and worked hard to get it cleaned up. Raw sewage backups not being properly cleaned up is very dangerous. To not have any cleaning protocol to deal with this daily sewage situation is also very dangerous. I would again bet Mr. Herrell would have seen to it that was fixed immediately.





The Franklin County Prosecutors office if called by the Sheriff could arrainge a meeting so the Sheriff could hear first hand how a man was brutally victimized and now disabled. This would have shown he truly gave a d**n.....





If you have any other questions Tc im sure you can take the time to write your friend Zach Scott then write Mr. Herrell and ask questions. I would love to see their responses posted after you write them. Anyone will agree to get to the bottom of a problem both sides should be interviewed thus allowing decisions to be made. Zach Scott would rather hide behind a desk and use a lawsuit as an excuse as to why he cant talk to both sides instead of doing the right thing. Thus allowing him not to put procedures in place to make sure this never happens again....





One last note...



A settlement hearing was done recently where the attorneys representing the County and a representative from the Sheriffs department were required to show up. The Sheriff Zach Scott had a golden opportunity to show himself with his attorneys present to hear first hand and ask questions. He didnt show because he doesnt give a d**n. So quit using excuses for the Sheriff when he could have been there and met first hand with the victim but refused to show himself, instead hiding behind a desk.





I again believe Mr Herrell would have shown up to hear and discuss first hand what went on so he could make the necessary immediate changes. But as you stated above Tc your researching the candidates, if this is true e mail them and ask the questions you want answered.

Author Anonymous from Hilliard states that Sheriff Scott has not made changes to "brutal abuse" by Deputies in the jails.  The example given to demonstrate this abuse is an incident that happened during Sheriff Karnes' leadership in which it is noted that Karnes disciplined the Deputy responsible. 

You suggest that Sheriff Scott punish this Deputy again for the same incident.  If this is your policy, how many times would you suggest you be punished for your crimes?  Would you like to go to jail, be released, then jailed again for one crime?  That would be a violation of your rights, wouldn't it? 

You tell us that any honorable Sheriff would fire this Deputy after he was already punished.  I think a Sheriff and his County's attorneys would disagree.  Doing what you suggest could lead to a lawsuit and settlement- the stuff you are complaining about wasting taxpayer dollars. 

How does the original poster know that Sheriff Scott has not asked for details about the Jackson Pike sewer lawsuit?  I suspect that Sheriff Scott would act like any other person and would ask for details.  The author's assertion that this has not happened doesn't make sense to me. 

What changes would you suggest he make to resolve to sewage problem?  I get the impression from details in your post that you may have been incarcerated in Franklin County.

Also, I'm not sure I understand how being involved in the DARE Program- telling kids to stay off drugs in school visits- would make Zach Scott responsible for sewage at a jail. 

Being someone's protege means that they are moving through positions of authority in different areas of an entity to prepare them for the top job- giving them a broad knowledge of the organization.  It does not mean that they are included in every meeting their mentor attends, nor any of their decisions.  In the case of Sheriff Scott, it looks like Sheriff Karnes put him in positions where Scott would be in front of the public where he would have an opportunity to represent the Dept.

Name calling doesn't change reality. 

I've been researching the candidates and have been surprised by the nature of the comments of the author of this "complaint".  I'm not one to respond to stuff like this, but this seems so out of line that I took a few minutes to research what the original poster had said and to simply read the links that were provided. 

I do respect the author's position that, if there is a drain problem at Jackson Pike, then it should be resolved.  Since Mr Herrell was director of that facility prior to the complaint, could he let us know what he determined was the source of the sewage problem while he was in charge there- did inmates clog their toilets intentionally, or is there a problem with the design of the facility?  If the problem is as extensive as the author says, I have a hard time imagining that it began recently. 

In fact, the author indicated that the facility overflows with sewage 1200 times per year and that 6440 incidents can be found with a records search.  Dividing 6440 by the 1200 average incidents per year puts us at 5 years 4 months back- January 2007.  Since Mr Harrell tells us he was transferred out of the facility 8/10/2008, the data the author and Mr Harrell provided us indicates that Harrell was in charge for 1 year and 8 months at a minimum while the sewage problem occurred.  The author then tells us that no policy was put in place to address the sewage problem.  Who would have been responsible for that?  Could either of you clarify for me how to interpret what you've said?  I'm simply using the information you have provided and the math doesn't agree with your comments.  Thanks in advance for your clarification.

I'm concerned by the author's suggestion that the Sheriff ignor his chain of command in order to address the author's issues.  To the best of my knowledge, Sheriff Scott is not an attorney, so would not be qualified to represent Franklin County in legal matters.  So, the author's suggestion that Sheriff Scott meet with or call Plaintiff's council would be absolutely inappropriate.

Again, about the chain of command, and Mr Herrell chime in here if you don't mind- if the Sheriff were to take over the handling of the repair of the alleged sewage problem, how would that be received by the Jackson Pike facility management and staff?  My expectation is that the responsibility for maintaining the facility is the director's.  Wouldn't it be more appropriate for the Sheriff to work together with the facility managers to resolve the problem?  My thought would be that any other process would undermine the authority of the managers of the facility in the eyes of their subordinates.

Further, the leader of an organization as complex and large as the Franklin County Sheriff's Department must delegate jobs to his subordinates.  Clearly, the Sheriff can't patrol the streets, pay the bills, and respond to complaints, all while still having time to manage and and direct the Department.  To say that he's less of a person for behaving like the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of the County indicates a lack of understanding of the responsibilities of the office.

Could Mr Harrell tell us about his management style?  Has he read these posts and does he agree with the author's assertions about the County Commissioners and about the responsibilites of the Sheriff and about the manner in which the author suggests the problems should be handled?

In the first report I put a few links with news articles about the Franklin County Sheriff..

Zach Scott was not Sheriff when they happened but as Sheriff now he has done nothing to make changes in the inhumaine conditions at the jail and the BRUTAL ABUSE being dished out by Deputys to inmates.

In one of the storys posted a Deputy beat a handcuffed inmate then wrote on his report I believe saying the inmate tried to attack him. Sheriff Karnes at the time gave him I believe a two day suspension and transferred him to  a cushy job at a local high school watching football games. 

As new Sheriff when appointed Zach Scott should have FIRED this Deputy for lying but didnt...WHY.. Its hard to fire friends im sure...

Any honorable Sheriff anywhere in the U.S.A. would have immediately fired a Deputy for lying and falsifying a report , Zach Scott decided to leave him on because he again thinks this behavior is ok...This again is a serious liability for the taxpayers of Franklin county. As a protege Zach Scott knew exactly what was going on and still is going on in the jail.

Since Zach Scott took over as sheriff he now clearly knows about the bad dealings deputys are doing in the jail, This does not include the inhumane conditions. The most recent lawsuit a man was forced to lay in urine and feces for days while taunted by deputys and not allowed a shower for days. This same man was never given even a tooth brush when he was falsely arrested and detained until his wife wrote a letter to the Sheriff telling him this was inhumane. The law clearly states basic necessities like toothbrushes must be given.

Heres another problem...

Zach Scott was not in charge when this man was forced to lay in urine and feces while being taunted is true, BUT since his taking over he has not made any corrections to the jails unsantary conditions. A real Sheriff would have immediately after being served the suit called for a full investigation into the matter and made corrections immediately. He was also given the chance to call the Plaintiffs attorney and that attorney Maxwell Kinman would have been glad to discuss with him along with the Plaintiff who was brutally abused. Zach Scott has chosen to try and ignore the problem like it didnt happen instead of going forward and exhausting every avanue to make sure the situation was cleaned up and nothing like this ever happened again. Zach Scott if he had the balls a few weeks ago when there was a settlement hearing at the Federal Court house would have shown up himself to sit with the Plaintiff and his attorney and discuss the facts. Instead he sends a deputy up who looked like he could barely climb a flight of stairs. This shows what a coward Scott is. That was his perfect opportunity to learn more about the case and victim and show he was willing to make sure this would never happen again. BUT HE DIDNT.

The local press also did an article recently about Zach Scott going over budget by 8 million dollars. During the time of Zach Scott being a Deputy he took full advantage of eating up overtime. He thinks overtime is great, but inmates being abused is also acceptable.

TC can say all he wants about Scott not being in charge at the time of the incidents but when he took over as Sheriff he has not tried at all to learn of the situation and make corrections, it still continues today...

Im 100% sure Michael Herrell would have called for an investigation as soon as he was served lawsuit papers and even taken the time to meet or phone conference with the Plaintiff and his Attorney to get the facts and assure them it would never happen again.

All the above information is found in the links provided by the original poster.  Since it is obvious that these incidents occurred years prior to Zach Scott being sworn in as Sheriff, I'm confused as to how the original poster has determined that Zach Scott was responsible for these incidents.  I lose respect for people who attempt to attack the integrity of others with stories that didn't even occur while that person was involved.

It appears that Sheriff Scott is having to resolve many issues created years before he came to office and I respect that he's settling lawsuits relating to prior management problems in an apparent effort to clean things up.  How does the original poster conclude that it's a waste of tax dollars to settle lawsuits for these prior problems, then also say that it is necessary to settle these suits, rather than respond to them?
