My phone was acting buggy so I immediately took it up to ATT on 14 and John R, in Madison Heights MI. I was eligible for an upgrade, so I took it. I explained to the lady that the data on my phone is very important to me, and wanted to be sure that everything transferred properly. She said “no problem, that’s easy.”
Sadly, my Google Authenticator didn’t transfer the codes for my social media accounts. I felt rushed, and explained again and again the importance of my accounts. She said “everything transferred over correctly.” However, my gut told me something different, and my gut was right. She lied. I felt mislead and angry. Those accounts are a main part of my business model.
I was able to retrieve a few with backup codes, but not all. I reached out to Twitter; Instagram, Google, and ATT. None of them so far were able to help. You know? I feel like people should be able to sue for this. I Spent a lot of time building up those accounts, saying sorry doesn’t cut it… This is a careless act of being negligent with consumer data! Years of hard work down the drain.
