Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

When I contacted them about where my video was, I was told that they updated their servers (even though the video was hosted on a different website) and it was deleted. When I asked if there's any way to retrieve it, they said no one is in the office (yet someone is still able to send emails?) There was no warning or notification that our wedding video was going to be deleted, nor was it stated in the contract that we had signed that the video would get deleted at any point.

I am absolutely torn up about this, as it was the last video we had of some of our deceased family members. It's been almost 3 years since I hired classic photographers, and I have yet to get a straight answer from them. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE COMPANY!

Saying that what you posted didn't say anything about deleting the video is misleading. Because nothing you posted said anything about the video except for ordering it. It did reference other sections, that perhaps would have more information.

One thing it did show is that you had the option to buy a DVD for $49, so one has to wonder if you likely spent hundreds if not a few thousand dollars for the photographer/videoographer why would you not spend another $49 for a DVD of something you consider so important? Then if this is like many other sites, did you have the option to download it once you paid for the video?

Based on your narrative it was available for at least 2 years which if you have other options to get the video seems quite reasonable.  However, if you can point to anywhere in the agreement that guaranteed the video being available for a certain amount of time and they violated that provision by "changing servers", you MAY have a valid complaint.

It seems though you did a lot of assuming.  What would happen if in 5,10, or 25+ years this company went out of business?  What would have happened to your video then?  Just because they didn't specifically say they wouldn't delete it, you can't assume it would be available forever.

Good Luck

A few months had passed since I watched the video, possibly 3 months when I finally took notice. Nowhere in the contract that I had signed did it say that the video would be deleted after a certain amount of time

Just how did the ONLY copy in existence of this video end up on this companies servers?

If the video had been on their servers for 3 years, how long had it been between the last time you looked at the video and realized it was gone?

You say that you were never told that it would be deleted, so what was in the agreement as to how long they guaranteed to host your video?
