I am making a statement regarding my involvement with Green Motion Edinburgh rental car agency.

Before the events of the 9/7/19 occurred, I need to first explain what transpired when I picked up the car on 9/5/19. On 9/5/19, I was informed by the Green Motion agent I needed to purchase car insurance from Green Motion in case of any damages to the vehicle.

I was told their car insurance covered ANY and ALL damages to the vehicle. I had already purchased insurance from Expedia but since Green Motion refused to let me rent the car without their insurance, I felt I did not have a choice, so I purchased their insurance.

When I picked up the car on 9/5/19, I began to walk around the car for inspection as is my usual custom when renting a vehicle. I was stopped by their agent who informed me, “no need to inspect the car, any damage is covered by the insurance you purchased”. Thus, an inspection was not completed. However, I noticed later that day that there was prior damage to the vehicle on the passenger and driver’s side.

While driving on 9/7/19, the last day I had the vehicle, and on the way to the rental car agency, I was victim of a minor hit and run accident. A woman started to pull out of her parking spot and bumped the passenger side of my car. She then pulled all the way out and drove off.

I did not have cell phone service, being in another country, so had no way of calling Green Motion or anyone else to inform them of the incident. During my next stop, I got out, walked around the car and noted that there was a new scrape and dent of about five inches in diameter. All other damages on the passenger side had already been there.

When I arrived at the car rental company, I informed them of the incident and pointed to the applicable damage. I was told, “it doesn’t’ matter because you have insurance” and then asked to complete an accident report/statement. I then completed the accident report and was about to leave when I was told by "Val" that I needed to pay for the damages.

I explained that I had purchased their insurance so the insurance needed to be used. I was then told that they would not honor their insurance. I tried to also give them the information for the Expedia insurance and was interrupted rudely and told, “Since you don’t have any insurance on hand, you will need to pay for these charges.”

I informed the agent that I had TWO separate insurances and that the damages could be claimed by one or both of them. The agent refused to honor my insurances or even receive the policy number I tried to give her. I informed her that I WOULD NOT pay for the damage since I had purchased their insurance.

After I left, the vehicle inspection form was forged and filled out after I signed it. I did not agree to the amount of damages on the vehicle. Also after I left, my credit card was charged without my authorization or signature for the amount of damages.

My bank eventually reversed the charges. However, Green Motion began emailing me bills for the charges that were reversed. They are now threatening to send me to collections. They have never honored the insurance I purchased, they are charging me for damages I don't even agree with, and they forged a document I previously signed. I am disputing any outstanding charges they say I owe since they have refused to file an insurance claim for the damages.
