Complaint Review: Joseph Cumia - Port Jefferson Station NY

Hired this guy to play for me and my husband's coming out party (but mostly because my husband is his brother and was threatening to bite me if I did not do so).

He got on stage in white boomer sneakers and an old "Call of Duty" shirt. He started out by talking about how great a musician he was and that he was responsible for some old alt-right radio program that was cancelled. He played "In the Air Tonight" then started to berate some of our guests about their weight by telling them that he was successful in planning to lose 40 lbs in a month and that "Anyone could do it" but that he still looked good because he was "6' 1".

The whole night was a disaster due to him. He proclaimed himself to be the head of a fictional motorcycle gang and to have a trophy girlfriend (despite not being "marriage material")(I did see him talking to a dessicated woman later that resemble a mummified bird with a blond wig outside, but who knows). 

After playing a few Clapton songs, he hit the sandwich table and ate half of our 6ft long turkey sandwich. Instead of playing, he started telling stories about how he was taking down some online message forum with subpoenas and copyright claims.

Someone came up to me and said "That guy called Solo Joe / Joseph Cumia sounded terrible and was dressed like a homeless person. He kept staring directly at me as he sang and was trying very hard to make direct eye contact. It was strange and made me feel very uncomfortable."

Another partygoer said that Joe Cumia was collecting all of the used straws from the kid's tables and putting them in his pocket. When that person asked what he was doing he simply said "I am not a pedophile" and waddled away.

Joe makes money performing other people's music in tribute bands. You can hear the music of U2 or Journey performed by his bands, 2U or Almost Journey. Joe is quite proud of performing the work of others as opposed to making original music.

Later I found out that Joseph Cumia appeared on The People’s Court. His tribute band gigs had been getting cancelled due to trolls forwarding his racist tweets to bar owners causing many to cancel. One of them Joe believed he had a case against so he took it to daytime television. However, his attempts to explain the actions of the trolls made him come off crazed, paranoid and desperate.

Also, it likely didn’t help that in a discussion regarding his racist tweets he brought up accusations of pedophilia made against him with no real context multiple times. Joe claimed he didn’t make the racist tweets (he did) and despite the television judge’s skepticism of Joe’s denials, she begrudgingly ruled in his favor due to cancellation being in violation of a contract.

Despite winning his case on The People’s Court, Joe was not pleased with the aired segment so he decided a reasonable response would be to post the judge’s nude pictures on his Facebook.

Ever since that disaster of a party, my husband and I have been fighting constantly. My husband has been drinking incessantly, taking Xanax and quoting black crime statistics. Joseph has been bothering my brother constantly for "Residuals" and it is really taking a toll on our partnership.
