Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

On January 18th, 2019, Lingling Martin of Jeannie Rose watches and Ko & Martin translation services hired my photography studio to photograph her line of watches on models.

Lingling Martin signed an electronic contract for her Jeannie Rose Watches photoshoot via Adobe e-sign and paid a retainer of $1200 for planned shoot dates of January 29th and January 30th.

Almost immediately, Lingling became difficult to work with and became worse after meeting me in person and seeing that I am an African American male.

Her comments were disrespectful and she would send up to 10 emails a day, every day, asking nonsensical questions.  She was obsessed with duplicating the images produced by MVMT, a company valued at 60 million dollars.  By contrast, Jeannie Rose watches are a different style completely; adorned with dozens of rhinestones, with bright, gaudy colors and extremely low sales.

A couple of days before the planned photoshoot dates, Lingling Martin demanded to move the shoot dates for Jeannie Rose Watches to February 4th and 5th.

This is not usually allowed, as we block off our calendar for specific shooting dates, but I was shocked to discover that Lingling Martin had not yet even hired the models, did not have a shot list and was a complete mess.

I relented because I did not want to produce work for Jeannie Rose Watches that I would be embarrassed by and agreed to move her shoot to the 4th and 5th of February.

Lingling then demanded another reschedule to the 5th and the 6th, because it was raining (please keep in mind that this was intended to be an indoor shoot at our photography studio and rain should not have mattered).

Lingling Martin then demanded a THIRD reshoot for Jeannie Rose Watches, again using the excuse of 'rain' and when I reminded her that we were shooting indoors, she expressed a weird concern that our studio would lose power.  I then reassured her that we have battery backups for all of our strobes (this is how we are able to shoot outdoors) and it would not have been a problem to shoot, even if power went out temporarily.

In reality, what had really happened was that Lingling Martin was working with a modeling agency called Brand Talent and had been spending weeks harassing them, going back and forth hiring models and then firing them, then rehiring them, only to fire them again.

To say the least, it was bizarre behavior and after the attempted third rescheduling, Brand Talent dropped Lingling Martin and Jeannie Rose watches, because of her unprofessional behavior.

upon hearing this news, Lingling Martin's behavior became increasingly erratic and she claimed that there was some sort of bizarre conspiracy between our studio and the modeling agency.

She then defrauding her own card issuing bank and filed a chargeback, claiming that she had no knowledge of the charge, despite having a signed contract, credit card authorization form, dozens of emails and even security footage of Lingling Martin on camera in our studiom, which may be seen here, in case any part of this story is in doubt: https://1drv.ms/f/s!AqHDcQ66f_Evm9Q7ypZx3GQ0QqFwqg

Please keep this in mind before conducting business with Lingling Martin in any capacity, be it with her Ko & Martin translation service, or Jeannie Rose Watches.  She cost us thousands of dollars between rescheduling over and over and her fraudulent chargebacks.

Lingling Martin of Ko & Martin interpreters and Jeannie Rose Watches - You are being sued for fraud and breach of contract. By badmouthing me, you are not doing yourself any favors - you look worse than if you had just left the situation alone and just meet again in court for our lawsuit against you.

Lingling Martin, We have our court date and the only thing that the court cares about is whether or not your contract was breached and whether you filed a fraudulent chargeback after breaching the contract. You did and we have so much evidence, but seem to be personally offended that we are bringing these truths to light.

If anything, that is evidence that we are right. Just let the system work and we will see you in court. One hot tip though: every time you reply, you are bringing search engine attention to this situation, which is why this report and yelp have risen so high in the search results for the name Lingling Martin and even indirectly for your Ko & Martin business.

Deacon Tyler of F-Sequence Studio,

I don't want to waste my time going back and forth with you.  I gave my account of the story and the readers can make their own decisions after they read your story and mine.  There is no need for you to lash out on me again and again.  People are smart.  They can make their own conclusions.

For you to slader Ko & Martin is unethical and unprofessional on your part.  This is a dispute about your photography services (F-Sequence Studio). I hired you to take photos of watches and jewlery for ecommerce retail.  This has nothing to do with Ko & Marin Translation and Interpretation Services.  Ko & Martin never provided any interpretation and translation service to you.  Ko & Martin has a loyal long term client base which consist of law firms, universities and corporations with 100% client satisfaction. I highly doubt any of our long term clients would bother to call you up out of their busy schedule to talk to you.  I typically don't like to call anyone a lier, but in this instance, I must say that you Deacon Tyler of F-Sequence are lying.

Again, people see things from different perspectives.  You gave your account and I gave mine.  The rest is for the readers to decide.

I won't respond to you any more.  I have gave my account.  I am confident that the readers can figure it out.

Lingling Martin, almost none of what you said was true

Lingling Martin, I didn't bother to read the vast majority of your rebuttal, as almost none of it was true and even less was relevant.

Your contract had planned shoot dates of January 29th and 30th.  YOU cancelled that shoot date and then talked me into moving the shoot to February 4th and 5th.

You cancelled a second time and rescheduled for the 5th and the 6th and then tried to cancel and reschedule a third time.  All the while, you had not actually even booked the modeling agency.

Throughout all of this, you emailed myself and the modeling agency roughly 110 times and you kept reserving models, firing them and then rehiring them again and again until the modeling agency was fed up and refused to work with you.  THAT is the truth Lingling Martin, not whatever nonsense story you have concocted.

The truth Lingling is that you never intended on following through with the shoot.  You were just going to keep rescheduling over and over until I dropped you and refunded your money.  If that is not fruad, then I do not know what it.

In the video I posted, you can see how absolutely rude and disrespectful you were to me, immediately upon *seeing* me.  Before then, you seemed just fine over email and we were completely taken aback with how disrespectful you were.  EVEN YOU said "I must have looked terrible" and yes Lingling MMartin, you DID look terrible.  I think it speaks volumes about the content of your character and what conducting business with Ko & Martin or Jeannie Rose watches.

But rather than own up to being a con artist and a fraud, you attempt to besmirch my name after I bent over backwards to help you find models after the modeling agency dropped you.  It is beyond fraudulent, it is delusional.  To email vendors TEN TIMES A DAY with demand after demand and to breach your contract three times and then try to play the victim is outlandish.

You not only ripped ME off, but you hired my wife and Maria for makeup, wardrobe and craft services and then defrauded them as well.  In total, you have defrauded us out of $3,200 and every time you reply, you are not exonerating yourself or making me look bad, you make yourself look like an even bigger fraud.

Trust me, some of your past clients at Ko & Martin reached out to me to thank me for telling the truth about you and I *know* I am not alone in this.  More will reach out to me in the future.

Once more, if any part of my story is in doubt, I have a small sample of your insane emails and a copy of the lawsuit at https://1drv.ms/f/s!AqHDcQ66f_EvnIput65G3PCN09wNKA

and the video footage of you acting like a complete tool in our studio at https://youtu.be/uf_RIrdTZFg

Very excited to see what new lies you'll spout to explain those, Lingling.

Here is my account of what happened

#5REBUTTAL Individual responds

First of all, with regard to Deacon Tyler of F-Sequence Studio being an African American man, what his claimed was untrue. I did not even know Deacon Tyler is African American until I saw his remarks here. He did not look African American to me. I myself am an Asian woman, a minority as well. In a modern society like ours, everyone is equal and we earn respect from people around us by working hard and being an upright citizen.

I have lifelong family friends and coworkers who are African Americans. My kids' friends from school who are African American come to my house for sleep over all the time.  I take my daughter's volleyball teammate who is African American to Phoenix Volleyball Tournaments and she sleeps on the same bed with my daughter in our hotel room.

What Deacon Tyler of F-Sequence Studio described was untrue.    Here is my account of what happened.  As a personal hobby/passion project, I wanted to experiment with ecommerce retail by selling watches and jewelry online, hence needed to take photos for the watches and Jewelry. I found Deacon Tyler Photography (F-Sequence Studio) on the internet.

Deacon Tyler initially appeared to be enthusiastic and motivated for the job over the phone and emails, so I signed his contract agreeing to use his photography service for the watches and jewelry.   But right after I visited his studio (he invited me to go see his studio), his whole attitude made a 180 degree turn. He sent me an email right after the visit saying that he was actually "retiring from the photography business" and that his "motivations aren’t for a long term relationship, reviews or reputation."

I was a little taken by the fact that he did not tell me this before I signed his contract. His attitude made me a little uncomfortable, but I didn't say anything since I already signed his contract. I thought that since we already started the project, we might as well do the best we can to complete it.

During the following few weeks, Deacon Tyler negatively critiqued on my brand strategy, complained that I was not prepared for the shoot, and made statements like 99% of the Amazon retailers fail, and all those ecommerce retailers didn't know what they were doing. I felt like I had to please him at every turn, sending him pleasing emails just so he would maintain a little interest in doing a good job for my project.

During that month, Los Angeles rained almost every day.  Half of the shots that he promised to do were outdoors shots. In his previous email, he said "not just the studio, but our patio, nice courtyard, the stairs, upper floor corridors, the building itself, the cabana area, the pool, workout room and then the neighborhood around our building.

Every house and even every alley has beautiful flowers, ivy walls, gorgeous fences. We can also shoot at Marina Del Rey at sunset if we have time." With the heavy rain and wind, it would not be possible to shoot any shots outdoor. When I requested to reschedule the shoot date due to rain, he got angry and started calling me all kinds of names including calling me a "diva'.     I was completely dumfounded. I could not believe that he would take on this type of attitude towards his customers, calling them names.

He had mentioned in his email before that a lot of his ecommerce retailer clients ended up either getting into a dispute with him or became not pleased with him.  At the time I did not think too much about it, but then I saw why. Los Angeles rained during that month literally every day. Everyone in Los Angeles would remember the rain.

It was a very strange winter that it rained so much. How could we shoot in the rain? Even his talent agency had a "rainy day provision" which says shoot can be rescheduled due to rain.  His response was: "Well, we can do a mix of in studio shots and then we can grab an umbrella and make the most of it!" What does it mean "grab an umbrella and make the most of it"?

That does not sound like a responsible attitude. After he got mad, on the Saturday before the scheduled Tuesday shoot, he threatened that his wife Sarah and his employee (they were supposed to provide wardrobe and makeup) did not feel like working on this project anymore and would most likely quit the job, and that he would let me know on Sunday if they quit or not, but he continued to say "but my contract won't be affected" meaning that he would still get to charge me the photographer fee even if his wife and employee quit.

I sent him an email saying that "If you guys withdraw from the wardrobe and makeup, the shoot cannot happen then." He did not respond to this email.   In order to make an effort to still make the shoot happen, I relented to the idea of shooting only indoor due to rain and sent Deacon Tylor the following email on Saturday around noon.

On Feb 2, 2019, at 12:52 PM. I wrote:   "Deacon, I am not going to respond to your insult and I won’t insult you either. If we go down that route, I have plenty to say about you too.  Before we go down that route, let’s try to explore a more productive option.   Two questions for you.  If we were to go forth with the shoot on Tuesday and Wednesday, would you be able to make sure that we will have proper power backup and lighting inside the studio so that we won’t waste all the models that I hired.

I upgraded all the models to recognizable roles since you said that we could shoot also outside your studios and even on the beach towards later part of the day.  Now that we won’t be able to do it due to the weather, we would have to accomplish all that inside the studio.   With your upset-ness, would you be able to put forth your best effort for the shoot.

The last thing I want is a photographer who does not want to do a good job and doesn’t care, particularly since you mentioned to me after I signed your contract and paid the money that you already retired from the photography business in 2018 and that you really are not looking to build any long term working relationship or reputation in the photographer business.

I really wish you had told me that before I signed your contract and paid you the money.   It really never was my intention to put you at odds with me.  Dylan has been super nice and cooperative as well, which I really appreciate.  Please understand that I am not trying to make your life difficult.  I just want to make sure we don’t waste all the models that we have hired to shoot on a rainy day.  That is all.

SMILE   Lingling"       __________________________   Here is Deacon Tyler's response on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 1:04 PM   "The logistics for your shoot are up to you and you put a whole lot of words into my mouth that isn’t winning you any friends.   Not the least of which is my status as a photographer.  Retiring from FULL TIME photography does not mean retiring from photography altogether.

You’re a diva and a difficult client and have no clue what you’re doing.  You even told ya as much.  I’ve dealt with many like you and very few have any longevity or success in business, especially when you make a note to piss off the people you booked to help you.   My job is just to take photos I’m just the camera man.  Everything else is your job.

Did you already secure a permit with Film LA to shoot at the beach?    See you on Tuesday.  Since you want to be in charge so badly, you will call the shots and be the director - the poses and expressions of the models, as well as the locations and props can be entirely up to you."   _____________________________   A series of unpleasant emails were exchanged after that.  All in all, it did not seem like Deacon Tyler was going to put much effort into the shoot.  I was the customer.  I hired him to do photography on the products.

Now it seemed like he has pushed all the work onto me, including locations, props, even poses and expressions of the models.  I vaguely remembered some scenes in some movies that it was always the photographer who would tell the models to move a little this way or that way or smile a little more. I, as a customer, won't have the camera in my hand.

It won't be me looking through the lenses. How could I be in charge of the models poses and expressions?   All these email arguments from Deacon Tyler on that Saturday were cc'ed to the talent agency that he claimed to have worked with for the past 20 years. On Sunday (the next day) the entire day, I did not hear from him.

I thought his wife and his employee must have decided not to quit. So I started to send emails to Deacon Tyler to make the final preparation to shoot the photos only indoor on Tuesday and Wednesday. I got no response from Deacon Tayler.   What shocked me next is that the next day (Monday, the day before the scheduled shoot), I received an email from the model agency (the agency that Deacon Tyler had been working with for the past 20 years) and they informed me that they would no longer provide the models for the shoot.

According to the talent agency's previous email, they "typically send it (the contract) out a day or two before the actual job once the models have all been booked.  And according to my email with the Talent agency, all the models have been confirmed on Friday before that weekend. Now comes Monday after the talent agency has been cc'ed on all the angry emails Deacon Tyler sent, and who knows what communication Deacon Tyler and the talent agency had behind my back on Sunday, the talent agency now sent me an email and cancelled the models.

30 minutes after I got the cancellation email from the talent agency, I got an email from Deacon Tyler, giving me 3 options. "Option 1: You can secure models on your own and schedule them for Tuesday and Wednesday. Option 2: I can see if I can secure models, but if I do this, you will not be at the shoot and I will not submit the models for your approval... If we go with option 2, I don’t want to hear feedback or complaints about the shots we get, nor will I take any creative notes into consideration.

I will shoot the watches in the manner I feel fits the time constraints, the products themselves and the ability of the models...You would just need to show trust and then accept that you get what you get.  Option 3: I charge a new retainer and we pick a new shoot date.    What type of options are these?  I don't know where to get the models.

So option 1 won' work. For option 2, according to Deacon Tyler, I will be forbidden to come to the shoot and will have to be happy with whatever he gives me.  And who knows how much money he would demand from me for the models he hires. Option 3 means I have to pay him more money.  In addition to the money I already paid him, I have to pay him for another two day shoot.

It was then I realized it was a set up. He and his talent agency set me up into this situation where the shoot could not go forward, meanwhile Deacon Tyler still want to claim the cancellation fee. He later said in his email that he "had a hunch that the talent agency would cancel the models".  Well, having a hunch, but wait for it to happen, so the shoot will not happen, he will get to take his cancellation fee.

I was so upset at this point that I called my credit card company and reported Deacon Tyler for scams and filed a credit card charge dispute.  The credit card company was Citi Visa.  I am sure they have sophisticated procedures where they inform the merchant about the dispute and ask the merchant for supporting documentations.  I don't know what Deacon Tayler (F-Sequence Studio) provided to Citi Visa.

Citi Visa eventually completed their investigation and luckily Citi Visa gave me the refund.     The part about him being African American, I honestly don't know where he got the idea. I honestly did not know he was African American.  Like I said, he did not look African American to me.  Plus I have nothing against African Americans.

My coworkers (who are African Americans) from 25 years ago still stay in touch with me today. I do remember when I went to visit Deacon Tyler's F-Sequence studio, he came out to meet me in a very nice suit and tie, even with a handkerchief in his right upper pocket. I was a little taken by it because I did not expect he would be in a suit. I forgot what I said when I greeted him.

I probably said something like "I thought all photographers wears jeans and t-shirt." It was meant as a joke. I did not mean anything bad about it. It was nice that he came out in a suit and tie. I cannot see why he would take offense of what I said. Every dispute has two sides of the story.  Here is mine.

 Thank you for reading.
