The purpose of this review is to bring awareness to a social ill which doesn't appear to be going away anytime soon-- racial profiling.

The Meridian at Harrison Pointe Apartments is owned and managed by people who condone as well as make it a policy that employees, particularly grounds and maintenance workers, harass black residents and their guests. Racial profiling incidents have been reported by two black males on two separate occasions who were accosted by a white male worker on a golf cart for no apparent reason other than being black in a predominantly white rental community.

When this happened to my nephew, he was minding his own business albeit loud music coming from his vehicle. Loud is subject to interpretation, however. The situation could very well have ended in my nephew's death since many who look like him have met with a fatal bullet over rap music coming from a car. It is quite alright for young white people to drive through the streets of Cary blaring rap music from their vehicles, even through downtown and past the police department. However, when you are black and do so, it is become a social problem.

The MAGA soldier who interrogated my nephew, asked for identification and apartment number then took a picture of his license plate. I am not sure if the guy was wearing a red hat; most do not. This was harassment, racial profiling and a violation of his civil rights. However, in the interest of fairness and decency, if there are white people who have experienced this type of altercation while on the premises of this apartment complex, please come forward.

African Americans, when you are searching for a new apartment, please be aware of the unwelcoming environment at the Meridian at Harrison Pointe Apartments.

No, loud has a specified definition by law. Since it was complex workers I would say the volume was loud enough to be heard outside his car and loud enough to disturb others. And no, since you didn't mention the employees as being armed your nephew could not have been shot. The myth of young black men being shot indiscriminately by police is just that, a myth. Those who are shot are not shot for such things as loud music. They are shot for such things as pulling weapons on officers and acting agressively.

Asking for his ID and apartment number was just trying to determine if he belonged in that area. I would say they would have acted the same way no matter what race he was. You claim two acts but only mention one. It was not harassment it was protecting property and residents (including you).

And NO I don't work there, never heard of the place. Just tired of people trying to play the race card when they have no reason to. False reports of racism like this makes it harder for those who really do suffer racism to get the proper response.

Then if this happened to your nephew how come he did not submit the report?? This is nothing but hearsay so I have a hard time believing this report because it was made by YOU not your nephew.

NO I do not work for this company nor do I live anywhere near this place.
