RioGrande.com RioGrande Jewelry/Metal Company Theft of Scrap Metal worth in excess of $3000. Albuquerque New Mexico
RioGrande is a company that receives scrap metal for cash in addition to selling jewelry items. I sent in over $3500. of scrap gold on May 25, 2021. It was sent by Certified Receipt tracking number 7020 3160 0001 8625 2373. It was received on May 27, 2021.
I was notified today, July 8 by message that the box was received but only the top of the box with the paper indicating its contents, no metal. I was told to file a issue with the post office. I went to the Post Office and they indicated that the Certified mail was signed for. No Recourse. I called RioGrande and spoke to "JoAnne" in the scrap metal department who said that the top of the box had been signed for and there was nothing that they could do about it. She could not respond as to why it was received on the 27th of May and I was only notified today.
There was nothing that they would or could do about it. Clearly this is a theft and the box should not have been signed for IF in fact it was damaged. This is clearly a theft at RioGrande.
