Rockwall Ford Oil Change - stripped screw estimated $700 repair! ROCKWALL TEXAS
DO NOT GO TO ROCKWALL FORD UNLESS YOU LIKE BEING SCAMMED. Went in for standard routine oil change. Nothing wrong with vehicle prior to going there. Was told that a screw to the oil pan was stripped and that the repair would cost $700. Kept me waiting there for more than 6 hours!
They would not let up about trying to get me to agree to the "repair" they were suggesting I get. I had them just do the oil change. Next day, my vehicle was leaking oil; it was a sunday so I had to wait until Monday to go get my vehicle checked at another place. Vehicle would not start! Have to get it towed to a new mechanic.
THEY ARE HORRIBLE! ALL PERSONNEL IN THE SERVICE AREA ARE SALESPEOPLE AND DO NOT CARE ABOUT FIXING YOUR CAR! THEY JUST CARE ABOUT GETTING MONEY! I PROMISE YOU THIS PLACE IS NO GOOD. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME AND GO SOMEPLACE ELSE!!!

No, had the previous oil change with them, Ford of Rockwall. The employee there looked at the records and saw that it was them that stripped it and so they initially told me it would be on them but then somehow that changed and instead they came back with saying how they don't use that screw and therefore they would have to order a new one.
That previous oil change with them was bad too, horrible service, but I am still new to the area and reluctantly went to them again thinking it is just an oil change so nothing could go wrong especially since the vehicle hasn't been failing on me or leaking at all up to that point. But boy was I wrong. Doesn't matter now because I have gone to someone else and all is good now and I won't ever go back to Ford of Rockwall, Texas.

Doesn't sound like a scam to me. You probably had the oil changed at some Jiffy Lube type place with poorly trained minimum wage monkeys who stripped your drain plug threads in the oil pan and probably siliconed the plug in place to keep it from leaking.
The dealership told you the plug was stripped and that you need to have it repaired ($700 seems pretty reasonable to replace an oil pan at a dealership). You didn't have it repaired, so of course the oil leaked out and you probably destroyed your engine trying to drive the car with no oil.
Not really sure what you expected to happen.

The FRAUD and DECEPTION which has infested the sales end of the Sleazy American Car Business for years has now flown into the shop just like raw sewage on a downhill street! What you get at a dealer "service" department is PRICE GOUGING, poor customer service and incompetent parts changers who masquerade as mechanics to run up your bill.
There is NEVER any reason to take off the oil pan to do an oil change. Therefore, nobody would know about an alleged stripped bolt! Find your self a good independent mechanic and take your service work there.
If your car is still under warranty, the Magnuson-Moss Act says under law, you can take your warranted car anywhere for routine service without voiding said warranty. This dealership screwed you over. They saw you coming and an easy target for their SLEAZY con-game!
