Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I contacted this company to move my household from Seattle Washington to Duncanville Texas.

I reported accuratly the size of the storage unit ( 10x10 x11 ) that was 80% full. At least 95% of my belongings were already secured in boxes, wrapped and padded.

I was given a binding Moving estimate and a move date. The bid included the first months rent at a storage area. The Crew showed up on time and we met at my storage space.  The Crew began to unpack my storage space for transport on their truck. The Crew leader approached me and stated that the total cost would be increased over $700.00 dollars.

I had my bid paperwork with me and showed the Crew leader. He said my binding estimate was incorrect. After serveral attempts to reconcile the upcharge with the Dispatch Dept. /  Manager I determined that this company intended to up the charge at the last minute and I would succum to the pressure and urgency of my move. I also discovered that they would not give me the address of the storage area that my belongings were being transported to.

Wrong - I declined and said I would not be bullied into a bait and switch business. The crew began to return my possessions to the storage space but handeled the boxes by slamming them back into the storage space.

The Rep I worked with: James repeated over and over that the estimate was binding for a 10x10 storage area.

They will lie to get your non refundable deposit.

Do not do business with them.

Bait and Switch - I have a written estimate that states< " Binding "

It is not the way it goes. My estimate states "Binding" and the only entity that is bound is the customer by the loss of their deposit and potentially their belongings. The company refused to give me the address of the  destination of the stoage facility that my belongings would be located. Conclusion, the can potentially obscond with your property.

When the company deceptiveley allows itself an out by using "binding" in their bid and their sales staff confirm this in order to secure a transaction then the way it goes is for the company to loose future customers.

I have my Binding agreement with TransUnitedMovers and can upload it to this webpage or to the Attorney General.

I will continue to post on consumer beware websites the shady business methods of your company.

I think the customers who have been deceived should band together and file with the appropriate government authority.

Non-Binding and Not Bait-and-Switch

Doesn't matter what you say.  You were given an estimate that was non-binding, no matter what the salesman told you.  The only way the estimate would have been binding is IF the surveyor physically showed up, saw what needed to be moved, and then you added nothing to what needed to be moved.  Without the surveyor being there, you were provided a non-binding estimate.  But then you were stupid enough to provide a deposit?  You don't provide any deposit.

So you opted to refuse the service, which then forfeits your deposit.  That's the way it goes.  It was also not bait and switch because of course, the initial quote was non-binding.  Therefore, there was nothing to switch to.  What the mover did was legal.

What you SHOULD have done is contact a mover local to you at origin - in this case...Seattle.  There are legit movers who would be happy to come to your storage facility, see what needed to be moved, and then do the move.  It might be more expensive than what you were quoted over a telephone, but then moving is not inexpensive.  It costs much more than what you think and nothing can make it cheaper.
