I bought a painting of Picasso’s Guernica from 1st-art-gallery.com about two months ago. The painting arrived from China, it was OK, nothing special but included quite a few mistakes in draughtmanship and coloring of tones. I took it to my regular framer who pulled a quizzical face when he saw it, saying that it looked like a cheap knock-off from China and he was shocked when I told him that I had paid more than $300 for it. He asked whether I had permission from the copyright owners to make a copy as he couldn’t frame it unless I did. He told me to contact the Artists’ Rights Society to check. So I took my Picasso painting back home unframed and firstly contacted David B, the customer service guy at 1st-art-gallery.com, he told me not to worry about copyright as they had it covered. Unconvinced, I checked with the Artists’ Rights Society who told me that 1st-art-gallery.com did NOT have any permission to reproduce Picasso paintings and that 1st-art-gallery.com were, in fact, notorious copyright pirates based in ISRAEL, beyond US copyright laws. They added that I could get into a lot of trouble for importing counterfeit goods, up to a $2million fine and up to 20 years in prison – you can imagine my shock! I got back to David B at 1st-art-gallery.com immediately and told him I wanted to return the counterfeit  Picasso painting, he told me I couldn’t as one week had passed and 1st-art-gallery.com didn’t accept returns after one week. I told him that 1st-art-gallery.com had deceived me and that I would expose their deception, at this point David B who was never  polite turned very nasty. He told me that he knew where I lived and that if I made any trouble for 1st-art-gallery.com,  he threatened to have me ‘dealt with’. Well, my husband is a law enforcement officer so we are not easily scared off my some low-life Israeli gangster’s threats and that’s why I’m here today to tell you all- DON’T BUY FROM THE COPYRIGHT THIEVING CROOKS AT 1st-art-gallery.com.

1st art gallery make no reference to their theft of our copyrights in their hard-sell reply, they claim that we are a 'competitor'. Let's get the facts straight. We are the copyright holder of Kandinsky's images and 1st-art-gallery DO NOT  have any permission from us to display Kandinsky images on their website and most certainly DO NOT have our permission to sell cheap, shoddy 'hand-painted-in Chinese Sweatshop' reproductions of Kandinsky's work. Please abide by international law and DO NOT BUY FROM 1st-art-gallery CHINESE COPYRIGHT PIRATES.

Copyright theft

Please do NOT buy any Kandinsky reproduction paintngs from this Isreali based copyright pirate. We have not granted any license to this Isreali thief who subcontracts to chinese sweatshops to have illegal copies painted by child labor. We are the Estate of Kandinsky and any the licenses we grant for reproductions are done through the Artists Rights Society in New York. You can get into alot of trouble for inporting these illegal copyright paintings including going to prison. We have also received many, many complaints from customers of 1st-art-gallery who seem to hold us rsponsible for the poor quality of their paintings (we have attached an example of their 'museum-quality', the 1st-art-gallery copy is on the left and the real painting on the right). I repeat, we have no connection with 1st-art-gallery whatsoever, they are Isreali based copyright thieves working with the Chinese.
