Yes, they think you are an idiot. If you are willing to pay an attorney hundreds of dollars an hour to go to the dealership to ask them for your cupholders, you are an idiot. If you are angry about cupholders, and not thanking your lucky stars you got a car with a working transmission, you are an idiot. I have no doubt that you have threatened them with this stuff already, so of course they are going to blow you off when you have a genuine concern such as the tags and registration. You go ahead and get legal action and after a) you find out how much it costs, and b) find out it won't work, you let us know how it went for you.
Oh, and in the future if you buy a car and those all-important cupholders aren't there, you ask them to be put in before you buy, or to be put in writing that they owe you cupholders so you have a leg to stand on if they don't.

So you go into a dealer and they tell you about a car with faulty transmission and that was a Red Flag to you. Then they ask you for a Credit Card, License and other information and that was another red flag for you. Yet your "deal breaker" was that the car had to have cupholders?
Do they think I am idiot
- Sorry, but yep for "cupholders" to be a deal breaker I am sure they thought you were an idiot. I o have to give you points for being original though.
Seriously all your "cop friend" and lawyer are going to tell you is that it is a Civil matter and the car was sold "As-Is". So if you don't have something in writing that you are going to get cupholders you might as well go out and buy them yourself. Even if it is in writing the best you could do is take them to court. You may be able to "scare" them into doing something but if your "cop friend" does anything illegal they may turn around and file a complaint against him.
