no 24 hour fitness did not rip you off. there is a thing with companies that you can buy memebrships in volume. these are called corporate accounts. what happened to you, was that they were having a sign on special for "add-ons" on corporate accounts. if you never recieved a copy of your agreement, then you could of asked the front desk to check the status on your account. all they needed was your drivers liscense. at this point they will tell you if you are in good standing or current. it will also tell them what kind of payment you are giving ex; visa,mc, check etc... as your wife had a job with this benefit, when she left they cancelled because her membership was a "freebie". kind of like medical and dental and optical. but yours continued because you were giving monthly dues. you were unaware because you believed that once your wifes memebership was done so was yours. yours was an actual memvership and i must say an extremly cheap one. most memebership run from 29-46 dollards a month. also you could of called your bank or whatever you were paying with and told them to stop payment. all they needed was the companies name. that would of stopped them from taking automatically out. just a little advice for the next time you decide to get in something that needs to be taken out automatically from an account

24 hr fitness e-mailed me back saying they will finally stop the payment deductions. However, they will not refund the amounts taken because per my membership agreement I have to notify them in writing. I do not have a membership agreement. My wife was given the membership through her company and we did not receive any agreement. The amount they were taken out was for me on her memebership as a spouse. If there is no memebership being paid for where are they applying the 4.00??? I gather that there are probably a lot of people out there and they are just keeping our money. The amount is too small that most people won't sue so they figure itr is a freebie........
