And why do you feel you shouldn't pay a penalty for stealing the bank's money? Your lack of communication in your marriage is not the bank's concern.

IN 20YRS OF HAVING CHECKING ACCOUNTS, I HAVE BOUNCED 1 CHECK. IT WAS A RENT CHECK & IT BOUNCED BECAUSE MY EMPLOYER WAS LATE DOING A DIRECT DEPOSIT. THE BANK WAIVED THE FEE DUE TO THE FACT THAT I DONT HAVE THE "overdrafts still happen" PROBLEM. NOW JUST SO YOU KNOW, I DIDNT HAVE THOUSANDS BACK THEN....I DONT & HAVE NEVER WORKED FOR A BANK. WHAT I DO IS KEEP TRACK OF MY ACCOUNT. IF YOU SPEND MORE THAN YOU HAVEAVAILABLE IN THE ACCOUNT, ITS YOUR FAULT & THERE ARE FEES(THAT ARE FULLY DISCLOSED UP FRONT) TO PAY. GET OVER IT, MOVE ON & LEARN TO KEEP TRACK OF YOUR SPENDING.

So this is a case of we agree with what you are saying or we must work for a bank or in the credit card industry. Wow so much for free speech. Well I do not work for these industries now or at any time in my life. I also have not paid an Overdraft fee in over 10 years, and have had my account in single digits on occasion. No, I am not bragging or saying that I am any better. But I spend the time to actually keep track of my balances. Yes it may take 30 seconds to write down a transaction when I spend it, but if that 30 Seconds saves me 1 OD fee of $36 that is like I am making $4320 an hour if it was a job(see anyone can multiply numbers out to make huge values also...) The bank did not force you to overdraft. They were caused by your mistakes. Had you not made a mistake there would have been no problems. You say it is not "fair" that banks post transactions from HIGHEST to LOWEST. By your statement "..charging overdraft fees on each smaller check first rather than the one larger one.." you are infering that you want your checks posted LOWEST to HIGHEST. Does that meet your test for fairness to all concerned? "..Michigan restricts the rate of interest on personal loans to 7% per annum.." "..Should the RICO act laws on "loan sharking" (charging twice the state usury rate) apply to banks?.." -Overdraft fees are NOT loans, they are fees. You are charged the same amount if you OD by $1 or $100. So some advise 1. Stop using the Debit Card 2. Write down every transaction you do 3. Never set up Recurring Transactions 4. If you do hit an Overdraft STOP using that account until you are sure everything is straighted out. 5. Don't worry about any Class Action Suits - They have been tried before with people using these beliefs before and have gone no where. If you really think you have a case go after them on your own.
