I wish I would have found this web site before hiring "A City Mover" to move my belongings across country. After carefully getting numerous estimates from major moving companies, I was assured by a sales representative, that "A City Mover" could beat any price quoted by any company and be my moving company.

After they loaded all my belongings on the truck, I was confronted with an invoice that was more than double the price of the estimate. Obviously, I thought there was a terrible mistake, so I contacted the manager and he assured me there was a mistake and he would call me when he received the paper work.

I reluctantly allowed the van to leave with my belongings. Well, you guessed it.... I never received a call and because of time constriants, I had to get in my car and drive across country with the price of my move on shaky ground. I attempted to contact the manager that had quoted the estimate at least 10 times over the next 10 days, but with no luck.

Never once did I get a return call and when I did get an answer, he was never available.... even when he answered the phone!! Well, finally I got a call from the driver of the truck telling me he was going to deliver my property, but he needed payment in full (cash) before unloading the truck. I knew then I had been ripped off. What could I do? They had my property and I was not going to get it until I paid them more than twice what was estimated. Well, I learned my lesson... Never sign anything!!!!! Not until you are 100% sure of what the heck is going on. I got ripped off.

One last "RIP OFF" remark.

As far as the estimates go that I had taken the time to get from other companies.... Two companies actually visited my home physically and gave a written estimate of the total amount of inventory and packaging needed for my move, including the price of moving a vehicle if needed (DOOR TO DOOR, TAX TAG AND TITLE, Guaranteed). You might ask the questiont, why then did I not use the company that guaranteed the amount that was $1,300.00 lower than what I paid to "A CITY MOVER" ? Well, when a sales person verbally guaranteed that "A City Mover" could do better than what I was quoted, I decided to use them. Then when he assured me there was a mistake at the time of pick up and the price would be adjusted, I once again believed this Liar. Anyway, I think I have vented enough. Now it is time to try and get back the Money I deserve. If any Lawer's out there that think I have a case, please feel free to respond. [email protected]

Ripped off!!!

To add a few comments to my report... All I had origionally wanted is to talk to someone at the copmany to discuss the difference in the Estimate and the invoice. Just a simple conversation to see why the big difference and to see how much I would have to pay at the time of deliver so I would have a certified check ready. A simple return phone call would have solved all my problems, but as I had said earlier.... never once did anyone return my calls regarding this matter until the truck driver called me on his cell phone to deliver the goods. This in itself tells me that this company knew they were ripping me off, otherwise I would have at least received a return phone call or been directed to a manager or someone with authority. Why dodge my phone calls if there was nothing to hide from? SCREW the moving industry.... If they say they are only protecting themselves because they have been victimized.... Well, they brought it upon themselves... I am sure there are many currupt business men in this industry. If anyone from "A City Mover" happens to read this, please respond. I would love to hear your excuse.

WHAT TYPE OF RESPONSIBILITY ARE YOU HOLDING FOR THOSE COMPANIES WHICH HAVE DONE NO WRONG?

Rebuttal:
YOU SHOULD REALLY CHECK YOUR FACTS BEFORE INPUTTING DATA AS SUCH AS YOU DID. YOU ARE SPREADING SLANDER AGAINST A COMPANY WHICH DID NOT MOVE YOU.

MY COMPANY IS A CITY MOVER VAN LINE, INC. WHICH IS LOCATED IN CALIFORNIA.

THE COMPANY WHICH IS DESCRIBED AND WHICH IS REFERRED TO IS A CITY MOVERS.

THEY ARE TWO DIFFERENT COMPANIES WITH TWO DIFFERENT WEB SITES. MINE; WWW.ACITYMOVER.COM THEIRS; WWW.ACITYMOVERS.COM

I WILL NOT HESITATE TO FILE LEGAL ACTION AGAINST THE CUSTOMER WHO INTENTIONALLY BRINGS A NEGATIVE REPUTATION TO MY COMPANY. IF THE FILING OF THIS COMPLAINT HAS IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM AFFECTED A POTENTIAL CUSTOMER'S OPINION OF MY COMPANY, YOU WILL BE HEARING FROM ME AGAIN.

THE "RIP-OFF REPORT" SHOULD BE HELD LIABLE FOR SUCH UNTRUE SLANDER. IS NO INVESTING DONE BEFORE SHARING SUCH INFORMATION WITH THE WEB-LINKED SOCIETY TO SEE AND READ AND BELIEVE? WHAT TYPE OF RESPONSIBILITY ARE YOU HOLDING FOR THOSE COMPANIES WHICH HAVE DONE NO WRONG? I AM APPALLED, SHOCKED AND EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED THAT A SITE OF YOUR NATURE--ONE THAT IS SUPPOSED TO
PROTECT THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN ALLEGEDLY WRONGED--WOULD SO BLINDLY MAKE AVAILABLE SUCH INACCURATE AND DAMAGING INFORMATION.

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME AT ANY TIME, VIA ANY ROUTE CONVENIENT TO YOU--THIS INCLUDES THE ORIGINAL CUSTOMER WHO POSTED THIS NOTICE, THE INTERNET SITE ITSELF, OR ANY POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE HAD THE UNFORTUNATE CHANCE TO COME ACROSS SUCH INFORMATION.

One More Thing !!!

Mon, June 04, 2001

Not only did the driver refuse to deliver my property until payment was received in full (CASH)( TRYING TO HIDE $$$ FROM THE GOVERNMENT???? ), he also would not pull his truck in the driveway. He wanted to get a U-Haul to transport the property to my place, which was an additional cost... and then wanted to charge me extra for the (5) steps he had to walk down to get to my front door!!! Then... he wanted me to sign a waiver releasing the company from any damages that might have occured during the move before he took off, while all the boxes were still unpacked!!!! What kind of service is this??? I thought Moving was considered a SERVICE. NOTTT! It is an inconvenience that Movers take full advantage of. I could probably make really good money in this industry if I wanted to. Just having a staff that speaks ENGLISH would be a good start. I bet I must have talked to 12 different people who never spoke a word of English. Finally, to make matters worse, the driver gladly took the Certified check, which I had made out for the amount I thought I was suppose to pay, since I never heard from anyone from the company regarding the difference I was assured would be addressed before the move, but he also took the differnce in Cash, for which he DID NOT WANT TO WRITE A RECEIPT FOR!!! PLEASE!!! Is this corrupt or what??? Now I am fighting to get my deposit back, which I was guaranteed would be credited at the time of delivery and payment. DO you thnk I will get that? Well, I am trying.

My appologies !

I am sorry to have disapointed you Rebecca, but I was looking at the top of my contract when I typed the name on this report and it reads: "A CITY MOVER" and not "A CITY MOVERS". I do, however, recognize two differnet web sites, which is Ironic, because I notice you have a store in Atlanta, GA., where my move originated. It is also Ironic that the Atlanta store also has a store in S. California. The other interesting thing is... a truck with the yellow "A CITY MOVER" sign, similar to the one on your web site, delivered my property to my address. Are you sure you do not work together with the store in Atlanta? Anyway, please forgive me for my gross mistake, but I honestly thought I was talking about the correct company. Maybe you should contact this company and sue them for Copyright infringement. It seems as though the two of you are using the same name and similar trucks to deliver peoples property. Either way, I was ripped off by a company named " A City Mover" according to the name as it appears on my contract.

Do you by chance have the # and address of your location in Atlanta?
