Robert Leirdahl owns the AAMCO IN LAKEWOOD, PUYALLUP AND THE CLOSED BREMERTON AND OLYMPIA LOCATIONS. WORKING FOR THIS GUY WAS TO SAY THESE VERY LEAST AN UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE. HE SWEARS AT CUSTOMERS, HE ALLOWED A COMPANY CALLED CCS TO SELL OIL CHANGE COUPONS HE REFUSED TO HONOR. THIS GUY IS ALL ABOUT GETTIN A $138.50 COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC SERVICE< ALTHOUGH THE SERVICE IS ALREADY DONE. AAMCO'S ARE NOT NORMALLY RUN LIKE THIS BUT THE CORPORATE OFFICE HAS NO ABILITY TO REIN IN THIS WEIRDO, BOB LEIRDAHL.

I have never taken any of my cars to an AAMCO franchise and I never will.
Years back in California, authorities decided to take action over a number of complaints they had received on a particular AAMCO franchise.
Police took one of their unmarked cars and had their mechanic check it out to verify that there was nothing wrong with the transmission. The mechanic then did an adjustment which caused the transmission to act up.
The car was taken to the AAMCO franchise in question to see what they would be told. Of course, the person who took the car in was told that the transmission need replacing. After paying for the new transmission, the authorities later came down on the franchise and he ended up paying a large fine for what he had been doing.
My advice is to stay away from franchise operations as they usually have a quota they have to meet each month to keep the franchise and they certainly don't sit around each day hoping to meet it.
AAMCO used to run an ad which said: "Over half of the cars we service don't need a new transmission!"
What the ad left out, is that your car won't be in that half!

I am pleased to report that they did refund our $400 down payment - we just received the check yesterday. It was a long, extremely stressful event but the company came through after we filed reports with the BBB, WA State Attorney General & RipOffReport.com.

They DID return our car to us, WITHOUT CHARGE, and even towed it home for us without charging us. We are still waiting for the $400 deposit - I will update when that happens. Woody was especially nice and the owner decided not to screw us with a mechanics lien, $15 per day storage fees, AND returned our car. We'll be very happy when he sends the $400!
