AAMCO FICTION OF THE WEEK

AAMCO IS THE NATIONS LEADER IN THE TRANSMISSIONS BUSINESS

FACT

"WE WILL DIE IF WE DON'T CHANGE. WE ARE IN A DOWNWARD SPIRAL"

AS STATED BY AAMCO PRESIDENT MARK WURTH AT THE NADA 2000 MEETING

IN THE SUMMER OF 2000 WE HAD A 1995 CHEVY BLAZER IN FOR A REBUILD AFTER THE REBUILD THE TRANSMISSION HAD A HARD 1-2 SHIFT AND OUR BUILDER COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM WE THEN CALLED AAMCO'S TECHNICAL HOTLINE FOR HELP.

AFTER 6 CALLS AND 6 CHANGES THE TRANSMISSION STILL WAS NOT FIXED. NEXT AFTER MULTIPLE CALLS TO AAMCO THEY HAD THEIR EXPERTS STEVE BITTLE AND BRIAN WORKMAN CALL US WITH HELP AND AFTER 3 CHANGES INCLUDING REMOVING THE TRANSMISSION TWICE IT STILL DID NOT WORK

FINALLY THE SOLUTION BUT NOT FROM AAMCO!

THE NATIONS LEADER IN THE TRANSMISSION BUSINESS OUT OF DESPERATION I CALLED THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT, IN LESS THAN 2 MINUTES THE SERVICE WRITER INTERRUPTED ME AND GAVE ME THE SOLUTION WE INSTALLED A NEW VALVE BODY AS SUGGESTED BY THE DEALER OVER THE PHONE AND THE CAR WAS FIXED.

AFTER SPENDING 3 WEEKS ON THE BLAZER WITH AAMCO'S EXPERTS AND ENDLESS HOURS THE SERVICE WRITER AT THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM IN 2 MINUTES

DONT PLAY AROUND WITH AAMCOS CUSTOMER COMPLAINT DEPARTMENT

CALL 1-800-523-0402 AND ASK TO SPEAK TO THE PRESIDENT: MARK WURTH ext. 380 OR CEO: KEITH MORGAN

My story is this, I personally did not happen to have any problems with the Aamco I dealt with just because of who the Manager was at the time. This particular Aamco was managed by someone I have come to respect and still take my vehicles to, even to this day, his name is Scott Harvey, and now owns the Aamco located on Valley View Blvd. Las Vegas, NV. I had a 1989 Ford Aerostar van, a real pain in the butt to work on. My ex-husband to be, who used to be a mechanic, could not handle this problem, so I set out to get estimates. I called around, getting the worst case scenarios, and the best price was Aamco at $2200, the rest wanted upwards of $2500 or more. I went in and met with Mr. Harvey, of whom both me and my new boyfriend spent about an hour speaking with him, asking him lots of questions before we even nursed the old beast in to see him. He was very patient and answered our questions respectfully and fully, even letting us look through all the manuals. We asked scenario type questions, that he would point out the different cost ranges out for us, of course, it all depended on what the heck was happening with beastie, of course. Well, it took about a week for them to fix, but I was having a money crunch at that time. Mr. Harvey agreed to payments, never charging storage or even late fees, and it took a long time for me to get it paid off. He took very, very good care of us, even taking the time to have it vacuumed and cleaned for us. Seems to me he had a bunch of junk cars people didn't pay on even with a payment plan and discounted fees. I have not had any problems with the trans in the Aerostar since that time. The rest of the vehicle, that's another story, but not an Aamco problem. The tranny is still fine and dandy to this day, but will never buy another Ford. About 4 months after picking up the van, and occasionally stopping in to see Scotty and the gang, he gave me a call at home, wondering if he could talk with me a moment, in person. I stopped by, and was offered a job. I accepted as I had just been let go of a high stress job for a repo company. But, alas, I did not get to work with Scotty but for a few days. He transferred back to Florida due to family problems. I was then transferred to the Valley View store, as an Assistant to a guy I will call "Fatman." Here is where the horror stories that I have been reading about come in. Needless to say, I talked with the 2nd in command from the owner of the 4 stores located here in Vegas, and was transferred to the Sahara store (where I had my van worked on) before I strangled the "Fatman." I was now working with the new Manager, Steve Cryder, who is just as good as Scotty is, mechanically speaking. I still take my vehicle to him for the services that Scotty cannot do at the Aamco shop. (Steve left Aamco to open his own shop on Charleston and Valley View, Auto Amore - Thanks Steve) {{Sorry about the plug, but he has saved me lots of money now on 4 different vehicles}}. If you are ever in Vegas, and have problems, call either Scott Harvey and his beautiful wife, Pam @ the Valley View Aamco, or Steve Cryder @ Auto Amore and tell them Tracy sent you. They will do the best for you that they can, but will not do a hard sell scare tactic on you. If they do, then I'll have to get my 9 foot bull whip out after them. I have known and associated with them both now since August of 1998. Thanks for the opportunity to get this out and sorry about the length.

they rip off the rebuilders too.

You are so right not only does Aamco not prepare the new owner but they rip off the rebuilders too. They don't begin to tell a new owner just how high tech it is to not only to repair a trans but also to do a diag of the problems that could lead to a trans failure. But they will sell you thier own testing equiptment and tell you thats all you need to check out the electrical system (WRONG). But they will also do things like take an Idea thought up by one builder and tell him it won't work or cause a problem thats okay someone up there didn't do his homework you see a lot of that but then give the credit to some other builder 4 years up the road and when tech is called and reminded that this was given to them 4 years earlier lets face it give credit where credit is due whats there answere (Fu%^ you) Its very hard to diag a problem over the phone but when you have to talk to people like that well it just makes it harder. This email is a rebuttal to RipOff #4918. It was sent by Michael Bakalor at [email protected]. I OWNED AN AAMCO TRANSMISSIONS FRANCHISE ..THE FACTS AND FICTION *Rebuttal (#4918) They filed the following rebuttal to the above Rip-Off Report: Their email: [email protected] Their name: Michael Bakalor Their relationship to the company: Advocate Rebuttal: Thank you Mr. Paul Boden, AAMCO Operations Manager. Your rebuttal just proved my point, that AAMCO Transmissions Inc. ripped me off. And you admitted it to the public via the Internet and your reply. Big mistake Mr. Boden. You stated I bought the franchise for name recognition and a business plan. That is not true, just go to AAMCO.com and look under Franchise Opportunities, Training and Support: "Technical Assitance-everything you"ll need to produce work to AAMCO standards, from recruiting to training to a tech hotline." AAMCO Manager Mr. Paul Bodens rebuttal proves AAMCO did not live up to their written materials about AAMCO, he has shown that AAMCO is a RipOff and lured me in with promises of expert technical staff, and that AAMCO is the worlds leader in the transmission industry. If anyone is "Clueless" it is AAMCO for letting MR. Paul Boden file the rebuttal, again he has admitted what I have stated all along, AAMCO failed to be there, one they got my money, they left me behind. One last note, Mr. Boden stated that a some point you have to take responsibilty for the work you produce, if so Mr. Boden, why didnt you and AAMCO take responcibility for your promises, your work, Mr. Boden dodged phone calls, did not respond to phone calls and did not fufill his job as Operations Manager to our center.

Your clueless, It is not the responsibility of the franchise to hire your tech's. That training should be done by you! If your technicians cant fix cars, then fire them.

You bought a franchise for the name recognition and a business plan. Would you like them to fix cars for you too?

At some point you have to take responsibility for the work you produce.
