I am sorry to say I saw this done numerous times by employees at Aarons, and was forced to do this myself against my better judgement and ethics, in fear of losing my position with the company. Do call your bank ASAP, let them know what has happened and ask that Aarons provide you proof (a signed credit card receipt) which they never have, cause you never signed anything. Good Luck

James, Just FYI, I did the same thing, since I moved, I made a payment one time using my credit card. Well they kept mine on file as well. Long story short, the person who forced the payment without my permission has a court date of Oct 16, 2006 for Unlawful Use of Credit Information. Took the company to small claims court and got my payment back plus $600.00 to cover the overdraft charges. I told them in the begining that all they had to do was refund my payment and all would be forgiven. But they chose to call and use threats (all of which was recorded and brought to the police dept and amll claims court)and told me that I wasnt getting my payment back. So I went the distance and won. All I can say is, document, document, document! The more the better. And dont just let them do it...I hope this helps! Joe Jasper Texas

I made a payment in the past with my Credit Card and they kept that on file somewhere. So if I got just a few days behind they would charge my account without my pernission. They made me overdray my account. I had a bunch of small amount debits and check out there. So when it was all said and done I was charged with over $400 in overdraft fees and fees for bounced checks from the company's I had written them to. I am so pissed off at them.

Ben, thanks for your reply. #1 I havent signed anything what so ever, nor did I receive a copy of the contract! At no time did I ever give these people permission to do any debit. The only response I got from the store manager (Markus) was that "I had no knowledge that this happened". Well long story short, the BBB was contacted and I was told that this wasnt the first time its happened at this store, they also stated that I should talk with the local police dept and open a case which I did. Now its just the waiting process. I told them that until such time as I am re-embursed my payment and my overdraft charges, I was not making a payment one, or they could come get the TV at anytime they wish. its been almost 2 months. At any rate, the PD told me that they have 2 other active cases for the same thing against that store. So time will tell..

Heres a question for you. Did you sign a credit card authorization form? If you did, before you initialed and signed it you should have seen that it says that you authorize Aaron's to take payments either automatically, or with phone authorization only, and that you authorize payment if your account is 15 or more days past due. Im not saying you can't dispute the charges, but they won't hold up in court with a signed authorization by you.
