On July 28, 2005 my husband and I hired ABA moving to relocate my household from CONNECTICUT to COLORADO.

At the time the deposits were paid, no mention was made by this company (the representative's name is Lisa) that they themselves are not movers, they hire out subcontracts to do every one of their moves.

The movers were 7 hours late, and wanted more $ than we were originally told, as ABA tried to tell them the depostis were never paid.

On Aug 31, 2005 a different company altogether had been dispatched to deliver my furniture. The "movers" were extremely rude and barely spoke any english whatsoever. One of them stood on the truck, beligerently informing me "That's not yours. Neither is that. None of that belongs to you..." Clearly, I recognize my furniture and my own handwriting on boxes that I packed myself.

They did not bother to look at the inventory sheet even once, and left with MANY of my things still in their truck. Apparently, also, on their way out of the storage complex, they hit and severely damaged another person's storage unit, and the contents of which, and left the scene without calling in their accident.

The next day we received a call from the Routt County Sherriff. Since we had rented our storage unit the previous day, and it was obvious that the damage had been done by a very large truck, it was pretty mucha given that it was our "movers." We had not been given the inventory sheet the night before, and had NO idea what company they had been sent from. It was not the same movers (TNT) that handled the CONNECTICUT end of business. So we gave them the ABA #.

Over the next few days, I noticed a lot more of my things missing, and attempted 5x to get an answer from ABA about: A.) Who were the delivery people working for? Which movers? B.) Where is the rest of my stuff?

Nothing. 4 calls, 10 emails, nothing came back with any sort of answers. Since the vast majority of the things that are missing are family heirlooms, and irreplaceable things, I am understandably pissed off.

FINALLY about 3 weeks later, I get a mail back from ABA saying they took NO responsibility over any of the actions displayed by their subcontract companies or employees. WTF? At this point, I write back, and bring up the point that under standard contract law, any business is FULLY responsible for anything that happens after the subcontract has been dispatched. If what she was trying to tell me had any truth whatsoever, it would mean that the deposit paid to ABA is subject to a full refund. We hire them, they take an exhorbitant deposit, then send "God knows who" to do the actual job for them.

Anyway, I finally get it out of her another 2 weeks later that it was Park Carriers, also based out of New York, who were the delivery people. I called the # I was given by Lisa at ABA, and find that this is NOT a business # at all, it's a private cell phone. ("To leave a voice message, press 1") No mention of any company whatsoever. I leave a voice amil with the # and ask for a call back about my stuff. Nothing.

I google the Park Carriers and get no formal business site at all...finally I find out they're a trucking company and get an email address.

I send thema mail, detailing all the events of 8/31 and ask to have someone contact me, and let me know when the rest of my stuff would be delivered? Nope. Nothing.

I got an email from Lisa again on 9/21 telling me she got ahold of Park Carriers and they would get ahold of me immediately. Nope, still nothing.

I'm going after ABA and Park Carriers for theft and negligence. I gave up the Park Carrier's # to the cops here so whoever that was can deal with it. I want my things back.

DO NOT EVER HIRE THESE PEOPLE! You will have things stolen, and good luck getting anyone to claim responsibility for anything that happens. Disorganized, shifty, con artists.

About 3 weeks ago Lisa from ABA informed me that Park arriers would be sending a refund check for the $597 we paid them cash on delivery. It never arrived. Quelle suprise. Today I finally get another email from a Sharon at ABA asking for our home # again...it was nowhere to be found in their office. Yay. Apparently NOW the story has changed again. The refund that was supposedly coming from Park Carriers, is coming from TNT for them hiring Park Carriers. This is a lie, as Park was hired and dispatched by ABA in the first place. Also, the "refund" is expected to be a "payoff" in liue of my missing things. This is not acceptable, and I have told Lisa from ABA this 6x already. I was SUPPOSED to get a call from Park Carriers 3 weeks ago, still nothing. NOW the story is, I can either have the refund (which was already promised to be on the way a very long time ago) OR take 60 cents/lb. on my missing stuff. All of the questions my husband and I have asked have come up with an "I don't know" or a different story altogether. For example, if the move was charged by square feet, how do you get 60 cents/lb on anything? If we were promised free redelivery of my missing things AND the refund, why is this now a problem, 3 weeks after the fact? DO NOT EVER DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE. By their logic, they may as well change their names to "Charles Manson Moving and Storage." Their motto? "We are not responsible for anything that happens once we send someone to your home." Expect to be stolen from,lied to, and have a bunch of criminals show up at your home. And NO ONE is accountable for anything they say or do.
