Acai-Noni Burner Company claimed I had won a $5,000 shopping spree from Amazon IF I would sign up for a trial of their product. Internet
I was using the Publisher's Clearing House browser, to receive additional entries into the PCH Sweepstakes. I typed the word "Amazon", again to receive the additional entry, rather than just typing "Amazon.com". I then received a "pop-up" which stated: "You are 1 out of a handful of people that have been redirected from the official Amazon site and have won a $5,000 Shopping Spree at Amazon! We have partnered with a sponsor in order to make this possible. All you have to do to receive your $5,000 Amazon shopping spree is sign up for a free trial to our sponsor. Once this is completed you will be notified via email to receive your shopping spree.Congratulations!".
I fell for this scam. I paid for the shipping of this "free trial" and used my debit card. I never did receive anything regarding a shopping spree. I did, however, receive a debit to my checking account in excess of $79. The ONLY reason I did this was that I have had great success with anything Amazon.com is involved in. I contacted the Publisher's Clearinghouse about this scam and they did confirm that this entity is one of their "partners", but that I would need to contact Amazon.com as they didn't know anything about it. I don't believe Amazon.com is involved in any way. I did cancel the future shipments of this product, based upon several facts: 1) it was a deceitful way to market their product; 2) it made me very sick; 3) it was an outrageous cost for a 30 day supply (and didn't work); 4) there were no instructions with the product, information about the seller, contact info. etc. in the package. Had I not saved the information in my computer their would have been NO WAY to get in touch with them to stop any more debits to my account.
