When we first signed up for our security system it was not with ADT it was with Apex Alarm.  We were Never told that they would SELL OFF our account to ADT.  This happened only months after having the system installed.

At the time of signing, we had explained to the agent that we were going to be changing out our windows and were told that it would be no problem, they would simply change the sensors after the new windows were installed at NO CHARGE!

We had the windows changed out about 8 months after the system was installed and purchased.  When it came time to change to re-install the sensors, there was going to be a charge for all of them.  When I said that we would then like to just cancel the system we were told we would have to pay a penalty for canceling early.

So here it is, We have to pay for something they LIED to us about?  We have to pay them to get out of using their services, even though it WAS NOT ADT that we had intended to do business with.  We did not want service to be with ADT as we had checked them out prior and were not liking what we had heard and read about their services.

Needless to say, we have a pretty useless, expensive service and we are cancelling it as soon as the contract with them is over.  We will then be doing business with another more reliable securiity system provider.  And yes, we will be getting everything asked and answered in writing and make sure to know that our account will not be SOLD OFF to someone else without any prior notice or agreement to.

Bottom line:  Do Not Do Business With ADT.  Total ripoff and very poor customer service.

It sounds like your problem is with Apex not ADT.  Because they promised you that your sensors would be covered, and are the ones who transfered your account to ADT.

It is standard in just about every agreement that they have the right to sell/transfer your account to another company without your approval.  So if you don't want that then be sure to have it in writing from your new company that they will not sell or transfer it without your approval.  While you are at it be sure to get everything else that they promise you in writing.
