It all started when I got an email from Advance Auto Parts advertising their online site. I checked it out and decided last spring to replace the a/c in my 1995 ford van. Advance carried all but the condesor, that i had to purchase from another major parts store. The stuff arrived slowly and by July 1st I had recieved it all. As I was installing the parts , specifically the compressor I noticed it was very hard to "prime" on my workbench. I went to my local Advance Store and told the person behind the counter what I had experienced. It then took the entire staff 20 minutes to comprehend my issue. I was basically told if I got it online there was no recieving any support from any of there stores (brick and mortar). So, I came back home and got on the phone with the online service and after 47 mins was told I would be fine that a/c compressors are very tight when brand new even with the special tool it takes to turn over an FS-10 compressor by hand and fresh oil. After debatting the fact I was told I could return the part thru a store and and it would be sent back to the vendor for analysis, which is what I did. That was 7/26/10 Well here we are 10/26/10 and I was just informed that I would be recieving no refund or exchange because the "vendor" deduced the compressor had been run without oil. Well, the compressor was never mounted on the van and I had to specifically plug the compressor to keep the oil from leaking out for shipping. This Corporation basically stole my cash.
