I have boarded my horse here for several months and things looked good from the outside, but then after several months I have found for that not to be the case.

The Board Owner/Marcia drinks heavily while handles the horses at the barn. The horses are smacked around/abused enough to where they are scared if they do not do what is asked of them.

The owner does not call a vet when necessary and administors her own drugs when she feels is necessary.

Several of the horses have lost significant weight due to the "hay" the owner is feeding the horses at the barn. The hay looks like Straw, no green. When cleaning my stall my horse I would find my horse isn't eat the hay. I have came into the barn several days with horses not having water in their buckets, and buckets are never cleaned or dumped. There have been times where 6 horses colliced in the same day, which was due to the owner changing the grain on the horses and not telling the boarders that she was doing it to save money because the bags of grain didn't sell in the store. She bought a different grain to sell in the store and removed the tags and sold the grain as her own.

Full care boarders should be aware the stalls they are paying to have cleaned are only being cleaned at a max of 3 days a week, and are still not cleaned by any standards. Several of the stalls should not have horses in them for their safety, example of boards missing on the bottom of the stall, where a horses leg could possibly get stuck if a horse decides to roll or lay down. The ceiling of the barn has several boards that look like they could fall down at any minute. The roof leaks when it rains, and if you are lucky enough to get a stall that doesn't leak, then forget having light to see inside the stall to clean.

The board owner talks negatively about new board owners and is not scared to tell anyones business even if talked to confidentially.

The turn out areas are mud pits and have no grass in the fields for grazing. Horses are not let out regularly when owners are told they are.

The indoor arena is very uneven and not safe for any rider. When someone rides or lunges their horse in the arena the arena will fill up with dirt where it is hard to see. The arena is small and there are lessons being done 3-4 times a week, so actual paying boarders cannot ride between prime time hours of 5-7pm.

The Owner moves anywhere from 5-10 horses a week (which in this economy is unlikely no matter who you know). I believe she is a weigh station for Slaughter houses. She gets in horses late at night and are gone the next day. Many of the horses are referred to as "dog food" before the leave the farm. It is not safe to bring in horses, not knowing their immunization records, which if they are caring a disease could be passed through-out the whole barn.

The owner is disrespectful to people at the barn and talks down to them if they are having problem with their horse and asking for assistance or guidance, doesn't matter if children are in the room or not.

The horses should be the main priority of the owner and are not. The board owner is more concerned with making a buck than the horses safety and well being. If you are considering boarding, please look elsewhere for the safety and wellbeing of your horse. Please Please consider elsewhere to board, there are many highly qualified boarding facilities around to board your horse in a safe environment.

First of all, let me state, I have NO stake in this report whatsoever.  With that being said, I can't help but wonder, if this woman is everything you folks are saying she is and has done the things she is accused of, why haven't you sought legal action against her?  If I found out my horse was being mistreated, or I was being defrauded via a boarding contract, I would seek at minimum legal advice for a civil suit, and possibly criminal charges.  So, I ask....are you sure your comments and allegations aren't "sour grapes" for another reason that isn't being told?

I'm not accusing anyone of anything, just would like those making accusations to clarify my above questions/stetements.

I have to agree with horse lover. You cannot possibly see the activity that goes on at this boarding facility from merely buying grain every month or stopping in once a week. I have had horses at this property both before Marcia was barn mgr and after. I have seen it all as well. Most of the people that come on here and post in her defense is either Marcia herself or her good friends that are covering for her. If Marcia is such a good barn manager then why did she recently get fire from her GE job? I cant name the amount of people that I know that left around the same time that I did, or the amount of people that were on various barn waiting lists around the miami valley in hopes to leave her horrible facility. One family I know for example left in fear that thier horse would be mistaken for one of the slaughter horses and be taken away when they were not there because his stall was next to the "holding stalls" for slaughter bound horses. The facility, management and horse care at this place is horrible, and I just pray that people start to realize what is really going on before thier horses end up sick like all the others I have seen.

Report is not a Vendetta

These items I described in this report is what I saw first hand! Buying Items and Feed from the store is different than boarding a horse at Affinia Farms and spending $270.00 every month to have your animal or child as I like to call my horse boarded and taken care of! There is no Vendetta against this barn or the owner for that matter! Buying from the store and being at the barn Once or Twice a month, or everyone once a week is completely different from being there every day and seeing 4 horses brought in and the board owner saying that she might be screwed because she has someone coming to get these horses around the same time they are getting dropped off... How can you possibly SELL A HORSE before even seeing them, getting papers, getting vet bills.... someone is soo ready to pick up these horses before they get in.. Doesn't make since in a Legitamite Mind. Really, believe me when I say, I have been there to see everything I reported in my prior report!

The Water Bucket, was not only a complaint about the buckets not getting cleaned, I am well aware that water buckets get messy throughout the day! The picture was to show  the water bucket EMPTY at 11 am while the horses are outside in the mud pit. Anyone can clearly see that fields have NO grass, so why turn a horse out if they are not going to be able to graze on grass. The 4 fields are MUD!

I do not normally write reports or reviews on places or merchandise, but I feel it is necessary for everyone to know what they are getting into before they do. If there would have been something out there for me to read before boarding my wonderful kind animal there I would have def. thought twice about boarding at this location.  When reviews are removed how is that fair to prospective boarders???

A little far fetched

I have been to this barn multiple times and have yet to see a lot of these accusations. I know the owner of the barn and find it a little hard to believe that she is selling horses to the slaughter house. Not to say that the owner doesn't have some quarks to her personality, but that is no reason to throw out these crazy allegations. I shop here with my family for feed and also have a couple friends who bored their horses here. There has never been a moment were i have felt uncomfortable in the environment provided by the owner. Not to say that there cant be improvements in places, it is a barn and I am sure it is hard to maintain a spotless composure. For example your picture of hay in the water bucket, anyone who has ever owned a horse knows that things make it into a water bucket. Again as I said before there can always be improvements, but I find this column to be a bit far fetched. The accusations sound more like someone who had a personal vendetta against the owner and no true issues with the barn. Hope this helps having a second opinion on this barn/store.
