For three years I have been trying to get Affinion to stop debiting money from my checking account. I divorced and my ex-husband is the primary insured on the policy.
They have repeatedly told me that because I am not the primary insured the cannot stop withdrawing the money. Even after I sent them proof that I remarried and my ex-husbands name is no longer on the bank account.
They told me to send this information to them, which I did and today I receive another letter, by the way is dated August 9, 2010. It is no more than the same letter they sent me in 2010. They told me it is my responsibility to take steps to futher prevent money from being debited.
I have to either change my account number or do a stop payment which will cost me at least $36.00 each time. How can they continue to debit money from an account that does not belong to the insurer. This is theft.
