AFM SCAM. I too made the unfortunate mistake of contracting with AFM and now look back to see I did not do my homework and got ripped off by Al Miranda of A.F.M Inc. About 7 years ago AFM did some work on our home to install a skylight. The work was slow but eventually got done at what seemed like a price. So in February this year when we needed to have a door and 2 windows replaced without regard to check how the business stood with BBB as we always do for every company we’re working with the first time (BIG MISTAKE –even though we had worked with them before – 7 years is a long time). We signed a contract in February and paid Mr. Alvaro F. Miranda $850 deposit on the work. So began our ordeal of endless voice mail messages on Al Miranda’s cell phone – the only contact we had for him (AGAIN BIG MISTAKE). He would call back when we weren’t at home leave voice mail about something or other from several measurement appointments which he did not keep to the door order being delayed – finally in May he says the ordered door had a hairline crack in the glass and that I wouldn’t like to have it installed. We cancelled the order and he promised to refund our deposit in full. We did not hear from him again – he does not pick up the phone nor return calls. We knew we had been conned when we realized neither the contract nor the business card had contact information other than a cell phone number which he does not pick up. With the exception of this Rip Off Reporting that we’re appending our report on all other business searches ( BBB, Chicago City permits and licenses, Yelp etc.) were dead ends.

The only way Al Miranda will call you back is to call him on a new number you haven’t used before – and then tell you a pack of lies how he’s been out of the country or very ill. This means he is still scamming the unaware public out there. AFM is a scam – BEWARE do not get taken!!! We too reiterate DO NOT USE OR EVEN CONSIDER. Learn from this nightmare just short of six months having paid nothing to show for it  and still running after refund.
